HELP! noticed a hose hanging that i dont remeber....

I got off work yesterday and saw a hose hanging by the frame stand. its looks like its coming from the air box as a breather valve. it was leaking a little bit of oil, very little. the hose is all black with a single white ring and it cut at an angle. any know about this hose or if its been there the whole time and i didnt notice it. it looks like i have two breather valves. any help would be greatly appreciated.UGH! thanks.

You should have two drain hoses there. Don't worry they belong there. One is the battery drain/breather hose, the other is usually the fuel tank breather. I say "usually" as I've never bothered to trace mine back to the source. You're good.

and check to see if it is oil.... mine drips a little fuel when it is full or goes from hot to cold.

Mine drips fuel when its hot outside also. Just noticed it yesturday.:thumbup:

it looked like oil, but it could have been dirty fuel in that hose i guess. ill have to smell it next time. i scared me i was like were did that come from. also i just noticed i ran over a nail. DAMN!! gotta get that patched.

according to my manual I should have 3 hanging down there, I only see one, guess the other two are stuck up there when someone moved the gas tank for maintanance.

On an '07 there's a wire that drops down to the exhaust pipe at the very bottom (some kind of sensor?) and a line that drops down on a circuitous route from the gas tank. It's the overflow or airvent of some sort. When the tank is lifted it shouldn't pull up at all....at least it doesn't on mine as it's clamped securely. It starts below the tank on the left side, swings around to the right side and drops. This is the one that has a slant cut at the bottom. I am familiar with this hose as I tie strapped my FM alarm attenna wire along it to the bottom (for a verticle run/better reception)

If you have less than 3 hoses hanging down there, I suggest you fish them back down and put them in the ring near the right rearset.

If you lift your tank, these tubes get sucked back up and have to be fished out every time you drop it back down.

I too am usually very impatient with retardation, but on forums you never know if it's an innocent question from a n00b, or someone really not making any effort... so I usually take a few minutes before posting... it helps avoid cussing ppl out

I don't mind helping those who want to help themselves. I've never understood ppl who post something that probably took longer to sign up and post it on a forum, then to just Google it or simply filp open their owners manual and have a look!

Bringing the thread back round to the original topic, I noticed that one of my breather pipes has fallen down a bit at some point over the last couple of weeks (possibly from the recent heat). I understand that the white ring indicates the original position, but does anybody know what this should be aligned to? The plastic clip?

Well, Boneman, I'm maybe kinda glad this was posted because now, I learned/suspect that I may have inadvertently pulled up one hose? All I have is a small hose and a wire that goes to the exhaust at the very bottom. And the hose that serves as overflow/air vent isn't easy to trace. I had to really look to figure it out. At any rate, this talk of three (3) hoses (one is not a hose but a wire!) has got me wanting to investigate. I have my tank up ALL THE TIME (however, I don't ride with it up). Now, Boneman, this isn't to say that it's not annoying when people make .00001% to do something before they dial 911. I know somebody who often interrupts me regarding a newspaper section when, if she looked .00001% second more, she'd find it. Maybe what we need is an FZ6 lousy post tally: 3 strikes and you're out?
