HELP: Headlights switched over

I'm having a strange issue with my headlights on my 2009 FZ6 S2.

I have just replaced both of my headlight bulbs (standard connection Philips xtreme H4 & H7).

On startup the main beam is now illuminated and the dipped beam is not.
If I switch the main beam switch to the on position or press the pass button then the dipped beam illuminates and the main beam stays lit.

I have no idea how this has happened as all connections seem fine and as far as I know everything is back in the correct position.

I have tried switching the bulbs back to standard, each one individually and then both together and and all combinations produce the same problem.

I've also tried connecting the main beam connection the opposite way around and I still get the same issue.

I've called around several local dealers and service centres and none of them were able to provide any insight or any possible solution/explanation so I'm hoping you guys can do better!

Also of note, I have not done the dual headlight mod. My headlights/wiring/electrics are all standard except for replacing my sidelights with LED replacements, also done today but this was a straight swap and they are working perfectly.

What you've mentioned here is a little unclear but assuming you are inferring is on the one side, the main is lit all the time. When the main switch is turned on, the opposite side illuminates which is the dipped one. Yes?

If this is the case, it would appear that when you changed out the bulbs, you may have pulled both connectors off at the same time and while they were dangling there, you may have inadvertently switched their sides when reconnecting.

Can you move the headlight connectors to the opposite sides and reconfirm their function?

I'm pretty certain I have the connectors on the correct side.

Originally I changed the bulbs one at a time and I don't think the wires are actually long enough to cross them over to the wrong sides else I might have tried doing this to work around the problem.

I agree with bd43.

Uk bikes should have the same color codes so you might confirm that the low beam (dipped) should have a black with green tracer wire and a black wire at the plug. The high beam should have a black with yellow tracer wire and a black wire. Your high beam lamp will have 3 prongs. Although this is a dual filament H4 lamp Yamaha does not wire one of the filaments.

The low beam lamp is the single filament, 2 pronged lamp.

Just went out to gather pics and when I turned the bike on everything had reverted to normal!

Reckon it might have been moisture as I had to wheel the bike under cover when it started raining earlier, most likely though it was gremlins, sneaky bastards...

Thanks for the suggestions though, I greatly appreciate people trying to help out
