Hello all great forum... But i need your help for my next choice of bike, i have just sold my Honda 2008 CBF 600 naked and i am looking for something new, the reason i sold my bike was -boring looks and a little viby around 6000rpm,the wing mirrors would blur at 70mph very annoying, the FZ6 S2 looks the biz but some reviews are not good about this bike, its viby,no torque,bad gear changes, bikes i am thinking about getting would be Suzuki 650/1250bandit or FZ6S2, i can get a really good deal on a 07 Fz6S2 and this is why i look for your help.. can anyone compare the FZ6 to the Honda CBF600 as this is my only experience of a 600 bike.
i am looking for a smooth ride with good power good looks and no blurred wing mirrors is the FZ6S2 the bike for me? Thanks

Welcome to the forum Wee-B.

The FZ6 sounds similar, it gets a bit of Vibration around 5000rpm, but nothing as bad as making the mirrors blurry.
This can be overcome somewhat by installing heavier bar-ends, but I don't find it that bad.

As for the review, it does have a slightly clunky gear-box, but this disappears when you replace the crap yamalube with a synthetic oil... (I use Motul 5100... gearbox is beautiful now). I wouldn't say there's no torque, (it has a torque-tuned R6 motor in it), but it is fairly sedate under 8000rpm, but get the revs up, and this thing goes!!!

If you can get a good deal on the FZ6 S2, I'd say do it, just look through the forum here at the many many people that are very happy with their purchase.

Welcome! I love my fz6.It has a very comfortable riding position,and like stumbles said plenty of tourqe past the 8,000 mark. enough to pull my 215lbs straight up in the air with a twist of the throttle,and a flick of the clutch.and it does,not require a valve adjust untill somewhere around 24,000 miles or so.and its fuel injected so no choke to bother with.ive got about 4,300 miles on my 07 and its never given me a problem. it has given me alot good times out and about.

I had a CBF600 before my FZ6. Tried the others, Bandits, GSRs etc, read the reports, made my own mind up. Very happy. It is a much, much better bike than they say.

To address the issues you raise, there is a clunk between 1st and 2nd, thats it, the harder you rider the better the change. Plenty of power, because the bike has a wide rev range the torque is spread out so it does like revs, but it is quite happy lugging around, if you like that kind of thing.

Go for a test ride. :thumbup:

hi and welcome..ive owned a bandit 650 bought new in 05..it was the bike i always wanted ,and as a my first bike it was perfect..but i soon got very bored of it..it had great torque lower down..but had nothing up top.

The fz however is in my opinion a far superior bike in every way..the engine admittedly needs to be revved..but when you open the taps you will realise how capable the bike is..handling is precise even tho suspension settings are limited it will still give you the confidence to get stuck into the twisties (something the bandit never did)..gearbox "clunk" is an issue for some but the right oil seems to sort that.(its not a problem,just a niggle) and finally virbration isnt a real problem..it gets a little buzzy but all bikes resonate at certain revvs and besides you wont notice when you nail the throttle and hear the induction howl

basically this is my 3rd bike in 4 years ..and this one is a deffinate keeper

i would say get down to you local dealer and book a test ride..you wont be dissapointed

All of the above comments, should I believe enable you to at least take the FZ6 S2 out for a test ride and when you do so, take it to all road conditions and having done so, you will be in a place where you can make that all important decision.

On another point, I think you will agree that this site for the FZ6 is second to non in terms of technical and social advice. The ability to MOD the bike is another aspect which you will enjoy.

I'm living in Meath!!!

I've had an FZ6 for the past 1.5 years, moved up from the YBR125. The bike has its characteristic features alright..but i've found that over time the clunky gearbox isn't much of an issue...and by god does this bike have some torque. Because it has an R6 engine it rev's pretty high. So taking off from a stopped postion requires some throttle. I wouldnt' give up this bike for the world. Its a lovely looking bike and is pretty darn comfortable to ride!

Two totally different rides. The SV is a v-twin with more vibration, all low-end and runs out where the FZ6 is hitting it's start of performance. The FZ isn't a lot for hole-shots or mid-range UNLESS you use the RPMs the bike offers. If used to it's potential, it will beat the SV in every way.

Besides, it bleeds BLUE!

Thanks for your comments, the weather here has been so bad this past month its imposssible to test ride, My last honda CBF 600 always felt like it needed another gear, i mean when in top gear going aroung 70/80mph it was screaming for anothe gear,is the FZ6 s2 like this?

You will look for 7th gear on the FZ6 too until you get used to the fact that you've got a LONG way to rev to redline!
