Headlight question

I was considering going naked this winter, and I was just curious about some of you guys out there and your headlight setups. Are there any headlight harness's out there that would be compatible with the fz or is there any splicing involved? Just curious if its as simple as plug and play and just make your own mount or what. Basically trying to see what I'd be getting myself into before I commit.

Considering the gsxr headlight.

I'm not really concerned about the turn signals or mirrors so much. But the speedo is also something I was wondering about. Would you just use your own speedo and mount it up with some ingenious fabricating?

Thanks for any input here, basically just curious about how one would setup the headlight and speedo when going streetfighter.

That GSXR assembly looks like it has 2 separate lamps. One for high beam and one for low beam. Most aftermarket assemblies I see that use one lamp, use the H4 dual filament lamp and are 35/35 watt or 55/65. You'll want the 55/65 watt and not the 35/35 watt lamp. The 55/65 watt is pretty much the standard wattage halogen used. If you are converting to a 55/65 watt halogen you'll need to modify the switching (if you haven't already) from stock OEM switching so the low beam filament turns off when the high beam is active to prevent premature failure due to overheating. This type switching is actually standard for all 55/65 watt halogens but is not provided on the FZ6 faired version because the two lights are use for separate low beam (left) and separate high beam (right)

The right lamp on the OEM faired version does have a low beam filament that is not factory wired hence the one eye. You can run the unused filament but you need to mod the electrical for proper Hi/Lo beam operation.

So it looks like the GSXR is two separate lamps. If this is so you don't need a mod and should just use the black with yellow tracer wire(left side plug) for your high beam. The black wire will be the ground.

Use the black with green tracer wire for your low beam (right side plug) and the black will be ground.
