Super random, maybe just plain dumb, but have any of you takin your dog on a motorcycle ride?

My dog is a 55 lb aussie. He loves going on a "truck ride" and is very very obedient.

Is it possible to rig like a backpack or something up to bring him with me? Not anything distant, just to the other side of town (3/4 of a mile).

Don't know how it would be done on the FZ6, but I saw a guy on the Dragon's tail that took the cage portion of a shopping cart and bolted it to an assembly on the back of his harley. He had a yellow lab riding back there with a pair of doggles on. I'm sure my lab would love it too, but I don't think I want the hassle of building that for my V-Star.

The hassle of building it, then the possibility of it breaking, or god forbid you get into an accident, the dog is possibly even less protected than you. I don't think it's really a good idea to even consider, especially in the backpack method described by the original poster. It just seems like a recipe for getting yourself and your dog hurt

this might be a good idea (unless ur dog decides to chase after a squirrel it sees and throws you both off the bike)

lol, its no problem. I love my small town of 3000 or so ppl. I graduated in 2007 along with 88 others! I live in the midwest surrounded by similar towns spaced about 5 miles apart

Its 20 min to the closest wal-mart

Pretty much! I work at our grocerystore, which has only 9 aisles. We do have a 50's style McDonalds tho!

Atleast Bagster makes tank bags for small dogs and cats. I've seen some other branches too. But for a bigger dog you'll probably have to get a trailer on your bike.

Ol'School Macca's...awesome, love retro chic! especially when it's real....am envious of where you live, have always wanted to travel to see that side of America.

As for taking the dog on the bike...heaps of guys do this in Australia, they are generally the Belstaff waxed cotton jacket wearing BMW riders you will find in the Bike Rally scene...

Although i think the fun police are doing their best to outlaw this type of revelry!

I could not do this on my bike,....i would be way too scared that my paint would get scratched!

there is a guy that goes to bike night around here that always seems to have his bulldog with him on the bike, the thing sits on the guys lap and spreads it's paws over the tank.

This lady who owns a Tack shop in the strip mall near my office building has one of these. She brings her Jack Russell to work in it almost every day. If you don't think about the horrible things that would happen to the dog in an accident, it's actually probably the coolest thing I've ever seen on a bike. One of the highlights of my day is watching her driving through the parking lot with the dog riding along, happy as can be. He really seems to love it.
