have you ever owned a bike you didn't like?

Never had a road bike I didn't like and the FZ is my best liked so far. I had quite a few dirt bikes over the years and there were a couple I never really liked. Most unliked was the 250 Triumph Trail Blazer - overweight + underpowered = no fun on the trails.

I have never owned a bike i did not like, but my best mate has, a Harley Sportster 883....rode it for about 250km's once, and i did'nt stop, had no guts, handled like a house brick, it hurt my lower back, and at anything above 80km's hour, you had to hang on for dear life....absolute abomination of a thing.

My first was a Buell Blast. Good one to learn on, but mine was late in its lifespan, as I bought it with 30k miles on it. It was in the shop for an expensive repair every other month. The techs there said Buell didn't even have a service plan for it beyond 20k miles, as they were never expected to last that long.

Kinda an informal poll....just curious if you've ever bought/owned a bike that you ended up not liking...

- either because it was a poor product, or
- wrong "type" for the kind of riding you like, or
- wrong size, wrong fit, etc.???

I have never disliked any bike I have owned.
All of them have had a redeeming feature even my CD200Benly.
My brother-in-law found it in someones shed. It had flat tyres and had not ran for 5 years.
I pumped up the tyres. Charged the battery, changed the oil and cleaned the plug.
started first time of asking and ran through a very hot summer and freezing winter.
It would do 60mph flat out, but do it all day.
Sadly it was stolen out of my shed.

My Mint RD200 was as fickle as Maria Carey, it needed weekly plug cleans and almost daily crab tunes. When it ran sweetly it had a 3500 rpm power band.
Unfortunately a man from the council left a manhole cover in poor repair and my bike and I fell through it writing it off.

If all I could afford to ride and run was a scooter or 50cc moped I would do it.
Two wheels over four for me any day of the week.

I had a Honda Silver Wing for a short time. This bike was VERY under powered. You could ride at freeway speed if you have twenty minutes to get it there. I think that they ran it up to 650cc before they stopped producing them. GRUMPY

Why did you marry them in the first place?

To the question: As a happy 16 year old, I owned a Yamaha DT50. After having replaced a ding and a dong, that bike did more than 100 km/h. Of course, this had a tremendous impact on the durability, and it didn't take long until both sylinder and piston were blown. I liked the bike, but I was fixing it more than I rode it.
Until a few months ago, I owned a Peugot Speedfight 50cc scooter for commuting purposes. I bought it cheap, rode it for approx 7000 km, and sold it with profit:rockon: The "bike" sucked, though. Horrible to look at and even worse to ride. But it did have a decent top speed of 85 km/h, hence it fullfilled my needs of getting throgh rush-hour twice as fast than I do with my car.

My third bike, but first real one, is the FZ6 which I bought last fall after successfully having passed the driving test. And I love it! Compared to one of my friend's CB1000 Super Four, my bike is superior in allmost every way. His bike might go faster, though.

Mine would be my first bike, a Honda Shadow VLX 600. Not that it was a terrible bike, but d*mn it was underpowered, wouldn't stop, & wouldn't go! I'm certain it would have been reliable, but the buzz in the bars from that 4-speed tranny and tiny V-twin at 80 mph was intolerable.

I was one of the lucky ones who bought their fizzer on a whim of what they "thought they wanted." Little did I know just how good of a bike it really is! :thumbup:

Crazy that ozzieboy had probs w/ a Honda 250. I've owned lots of the XR's and they run forever... Now I've not been the happiest with my newer Kawi & Suzi 2-smokes...

Yup. That's why I bought it. XR250 rocks. This slight variation (experimental) was terrible. The seat was a plank too...lol. Did great stoppies though...lol.

I travelled around Europe with a Kiwi who was riding an xr400, that he had done 170000 km's on...and had been across the Sahara desert! Those things are just about unbreakable!

in didnt like to ride my bandit aggressivly..always thought the front was gonna slide out from underme in the corners..it was deffinatley a confidence issue ,probably more in myself than my machine

Two bikes I didn't like; one terrible, one not fully developed. The first one was a '73 Yamaha TX500 twin. I bought it for $325, broken. I "fixed" it and is still never ran right and was finally stolen. I got $800 in insurance and was the happiest kid on the block. Then I bought an '82 Yamaha XZ550, aka: Vision. Nice bike really, 550 V-Twin, smooth, about 60hp, shaft drive...however...it had an off idle flat spot that damn near killed me several times. That bike was sold for my GS1100, now that was an amazing bike.

I've never bought one that I didn't like. I figure if it has two wheels, it's got to be better than 4! I could likely adapt to most any bike and find a way to make it fun.

+1. Though I didn't like my 1st bike much back in India - a TVS Suzuki Victor 110cc (8 bhp, 8 Nm), it use to happen many times that I used to take out the car then after a few km return back home and take out the bike. 2 wheels anytime better than 4.

So much so that after my dad sold it, when I went back this dec for my marraige I gifted my dad a 160cc FI TVS Apache RTR (16 bhp, 14 Nm) so that I could ride it for a month every time I visited India. It is a fun little nimble motor.

Yup. A 1996 XR400 (bored to 426 ) is my current dirt ride. Bulletproof! :thumbup:
