Guess what we found while we were out.

The last couple of days have been pretty intense as we went through the process of adopting a dog for my grandson Tanner. My daughter had called all the local shelters and nobody had said they brought on any female spaniels. The shelter we filled out an application at had a dog that Tanner was very interested in but the dog had been taken to the groomer and wasn't available for viewing, this was Friday. On Saturday we went back and the dog had not arrived yet so the tech said there were other dogs out this door that we as a family could look at. I went outside (the front) to look at this cute beagle while they went out the door the tech mentioned. When the rest of the family got outside little miss apparently wanted to go one way and all others said no, lets go this way. As they walked by the cages they go to a cage with spaniels in it and from the front of the building I could here my daughter and the kids screaming "that's our dog." Yeah, this got my attention and I went hauling butt around the building to find them. Sure enough it was Bianca inside the pen and she was jumping more than I had seen her do in years; she is 9 now. So, it would seem some folks had seen her off the side of a country road during the thunder storm and picked her up to take her to the shelter. While there she got some booster shots (automatic upon intake) and they had named her Duffy. The daughter and kids went in, paid the $48 charge and all is very happy now as Tanner has his dog and friend of 9 years back. We were 20 minutes from adopting a new pet and leaving. Had this happened we may never have seen Bianca again. As it turned out Opie, the other dog was not for Tanner.

So, FZ6 forum, meet Bianca, an 11 year old boy's best friend. Thanks for the support.

Must feel like like a second chance has been granted!! Glad they are reunited!
Please say the she has or will have an ID Chip implanted!!

Granted this is one time when an ID chip would have worked but in general and after 9 years she is never outside to be left alone. Rather, Tanner takes her out and is with her on the property (6+ acres). The day she left it was thundering and after Tanner had taken her out back he came in to go #2 and when he came out she was gone. Since this has happened he now has a harness for her and if he is to leave her he simply hooks the cable up to the harness (not a collar). In essence, she is a house dog and always has been. He simply takes her out to play and do her duty from time to time.
 
wow! That gave me chills. There is nothing like finding a lost pet, that you love dearly. What a great story. Thanks for sharing, Charlie!

Thanks for sharing.. what a great story. I am so happy for Tanner and your family :hug:
 
glad you got her back, my g/f had a spaniel but it was a male she loved that dog to death! He as 14 when he passed. Great dogs!!! once again glad you found her!
 
good deal glad your dog is home. You know you have to save another one though. Its really only fair. LOL
 
That's a great story! Glad that Tanner got his friend back!

Our dog went missing for 2 weeks when I was about Tanner's age and I still remember it vividly. When the Humane Society picked our dog up and returned him to us it turned the saddest time I had ever known into the most joyous time I had ever known!
