Got bike all back together after removing airbox/battery box etc. Went to start and loud fast clicking noise happens and fuel pump reprimes each time

Took it back apart and checked all my connections on the thing connected to the battery box and connectors I took off. Everything looked fine. Have no idea what went wrong after reassembling it. Is the fuel pump priming each time any clue to anyone what could be going on? Battery is fully charged.

Going to leave the battery charging overnight just in case and then test the voltage. It was plugged in a few days ago and I'm only seeing 12.2 volts on the multimeter. Think that is on the low side. I guess if it tests low again tomorrow I will be in the market for a new battery.....

12.6VDC is the minimum for a healthy battery. Normally a battery should be able to hold 12.7-12.8VDC static. If the voltage drops below 11.3 VDC with the starter engaged the battery will never start the bike...it will just click.

Thanks what a shame! Started up instantly last ride of the year 5 months ago. I charged it overnight and put the tester on it, it read 12.8 right away but was steadily dropping over the next 10 seconds and settled around 12.65. I will put it back together and test it again.

It sounds like you left the battery installed all winter. Just a suggestion, get yourself a good battery tender (I use Deltran but I bet there are others) and take the battery inside. Maintaining a battery properly will add years of life to it.

Agreed and I do have a Battery Tender brand switchable lead acid- lithium one, it was on there for all but about the first month of the winter before I remembered

I put lithium batteries in all of my bikes. They can hold a charge for an entire winter without any trickle-charging.

I have a lithium battery from another bike with good enough specs but its too small, since the FZ6 uses that plate with the fuse thing its impossible to get it to work. I do see there are "OEM fit" lithium batteries that exaggerate the size of the housing it actually needs to be since lithium can be much smaller with the cranking amps. But yeah couldn't get it to work. I do like them a lot.

Indeed, I wish I knew how old this one was. It's a Yuasa. No way it's original from 2006 right?

Correct... Most batteries, their life is 3-4 years...
