Goop and the Speed Triple!

They're watching you!

How's the shifting so far? The bike I demo'd.. I think it was a 2010.. would NOT go into neutral while the engine was running.

No problems whatsoever...sounds like something was screwed up on that demo bike!

I hear that on earlier models the gear box was really clunky and harsh. They must have worked all of that out by the later 1050 models.

Just saw this thread: Congratulations Bryan. Can't wait to see it on our next ride. Maybe I missed it but do plan any mods?

Thanks!! Take it for a spin the next time we are out :D

So far, I really like how it looks as is. Maybe a fly screen. It sounds great so I'm not eager to get an exhaust, although the Arrow exhausts are really cool looking and sound viscous. The make a 3 into 1 low-boy exhaust but it's $$$.

That is very weird... couldn't explain that. No other Speed I've ridden has had that problem.

BTW, I sat on the new Speed yesterday at the dealership. They did make the frame a bit narrower, making it easier to reach the ground. But I still don't care for the new headlights, even in person, and they made the gas tank plastic instead of metal! I know it saves weight, but it feels so cheap and flimsy in comparison and you can't mount a magnetic tank bang to it.:spank:

It's plastic?? Wow....I didn't look close enough when I was sitting on it to notice.

The 2011 does have a gas gauge. :D

I prefer the old school round headlights myself, which is why I opted to get a 2010 now and not wait for a 2011. I may have bought one of the last 2010 models in So Cal!

I'm curious how difficult it'd be to put classic lights on new model. That'd be my first mod if I got 2011.

There are long threads on the Speed Triple forum about doing the conversion. It doesn't seem too hard. They also sell a conversion kit if you would actually *want* the new headlights on your old bike!

I did the same thing, like to sound of it stock and left the exhaust alone. I did add just the body-colored fly screen to mine. It looks better and also provides a more laminar flow of air at highway speed making it less fatigueing for long rides.

First maintenance this Saturday, 500 miles...I put a few hundred miles on it last Sat. I took it up Palomar...what a blast! I finally was able to feel it out on some decent turns. Vrooom.

I can't go out this Sat. cuz I have traffic school. Weds. I'm headed to Jerry's house. Tomorrow's gonna be 90 deg here so I might cruise PCH with Doc.

If you can get a day off let me know! Would love to see the Triple again!:BLAA:

Works been hectic so this week is kaput. :( Traffic school??? Is this for the double yellow?

The rear stand arrives today! :BLAA:

This past Weds. Goop and I headed for a little spin over the mountains towards Borrego Springs. I borrowed my neighbors Go Pro HD but I wasn't paying attention and didn't have it on video when I thought it was.:shakehead: As a result I didn't get some great video of Bryan on Montezuma Valley Rd. But I had to convert the MP4 to Avi format and it's lossy but at least it's a little something. Great day for riding!
