Getting paid .51 per mile to ride FZ6

I am getting paid 51 cents per mile to ride my FZ6 to LA and back next week. The CFO of our company has given me the okay to take my bike instead of me flying to LA for me to go to Hazmat Training. It's 290 miles each way!

They have informed me that they are not going to pay me for the miles I ride while I'm down there:Flash:.

Kind of surprised, as it would have costed us nothing for me to fly, since we all get to fly for free, stand by of course.

You gotta love it when a plan comes together. I use my bike as much as possible for work. Why wouldn't I when I get paid the $0.51/mile plus for my time? Up here in Maine we call that a No Brainah!! :BLAA:

It's a bit of a blow-dryer-to-the-face straight line sprint to LA through the desert.

Still beats flying by a long shot though. And you get your bike when in LA so it's win/win.

I do the same a few times I year when I ride to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo from SF for campus recruting duty. It's about 250 to 300 miles one way taking the twisty roads. So I get the mileage reimbursement plus my regular salary for the day to ride twisty roads in beautiful central Cali....man....writing it down like that makes it seem even better.

Oh yeah, my number one riding buddy and good friend works with me, is a Cal Poly alum, and joins me on the trip every time!

For what it's worth, standby isn't completely free. You still have to pay the taxes and security fees, right?

Domestically, yes, no taxes or fees except if I fly on an airline that charges for bags. But I travel light, a backpack and my helmet is all I have anyways.

Internationally, I have to pay the taxes and fees,so If I were to fly to Mexico, I have to pay something like $50. It's somewhere like $250-300 to London.

You should hit up Mullholland highway and Decker canyon those are fun roads. I do not think Angeles Crest is fully opened back up yet. And I love using the bike for work when they pay .51 cents a mile I make money on that deal everytime
