Gas Brand Preferences??

Everything else gets the premium all the time. It's less than a dollar of difference with the bike, and only ~$2.50 extra for the car. To me it makes a difference and it's cheap to do. The price offset doesn't even change with the massive fluctuations in gas prices.

Well after 23,000 miles, I see or can feel no difference in the performance of my bike between regular, mid grade or premium, except for the price. Even our owner's manual reccomends that our bike run on 87 octane.

You're right, only a $1 or $1.50 difference per fill up. But over the course of a couple of years, depending how much you ride, it adds up to over $100 for me. Consider the savings towards a free mod.

I only say this because I cant see or feel a dramatic enough difference in terms of gas mileage and performance to justify putting premium. Again, I am a rider that really can't tell any performance gain after installing a K&N filter or the Iridium Spark Plugs either. Some riders will disagree, and say they can feel a world of difference. Just not me.

I try to only buy my gas from Shell. :thumbup: I usually buy regular for all my commuting. I usually try to fill it up w/ primium for weekend twisties, but don't really notice much difference. I just figure it is probably better for the engine when i'm running it harder.

My bike sparkknocks when running regular from Walmart, Ingles, or Spinx. So if i have to fill up at those places, then I'll run primium and not have any problems.

Oh yeah, when I occasionally run Shell Premium for my commuting, I do notice 1-3 mpg better milage. Otherwise I'm getting around 45-47 in the winter and 50-52 in the summer.

Shell, Chevron, 76....whatever has a decent price, but no non-name brand stuff. and never ever ARCO regular. Non-name brand stations and ARCO have crappy gas...and my parents and I have had cars that ping or sputter or backfire afterwards to prove it.

This may just be me, but does anyone else notice slightly better mileage with regular than premium? (Excluding the places where they don't add ethanol to their premium, cuz that's cheating...)

That is what I noticed. Unless it was really hot out, regular got better mileage. I wish we had ethanol free gas!

The only station... NOT BRAND... STATION I've seen who does it is in Whitewater... normally I got about 45 or so with reg, 42 or so with mid, and 41 or so with premium. With their premium I get about 48-49... It however doesn't wanna scoot with their gas... Feels weaker. Does that make sense?

I stick with name brands like BP, Mobil, Exxon, and Amaco unless I am out in the sticks and don't have a choice. I also run regular cause that is what the manufacturer calls for. No need to put in higher octane unless you are pinging/knocking.

Can't wait to park the car once winter is over since it uses premiem only. I want to ride NOW!!!

I usually stop at this Coastal Station on the one road on my way to work. When I see them getting fuel its a Sunoco tanker, so I always get the 93 premium. I try to stay away from the Sheetz and Wawa gas. The bike had no top end power on 89 octane. I have no clue why.

I really wish we could buy ethanol free gas in my state. I've lost a few mpg in my car ever since the switch over. The 90% gas is all I've been able to fill the FZ with since I bought it. It should be illegal for the government to force ethanol down our engines throats.

I should try the regular unleaded in my bike a few more times. I've only run a couple tanks of it before. I have heard that premium will keep your engine cleaner, but maybe that's unfounded?

We have the 10% ethanol gas here as well. It doesn't seem to bother the cars too much. My truck though I can't get enough fuel into the thing to keep it from pulling timing. I think they started putting the ethanol in the fuel here a couple years ago, because I was changing fuel filters in the one car and my truck every 6 months.

10% Ethanol here. I run premium...That is what my Yamaha Dealer Recomemded, but after reading this, I will probably switch to 87 for day to day commuting, and 93 for fun days. I ususally buy either EXXON, or Sams Gas. It all Depends on what part of town I am in.
