Gas Brand Preferences??

so are there any people here who put only certain brands of gas on there bikes like chevron, shell, costco etc. im not saying 100 percent cuz if i need fuel ill go anywhere but i seem to allways use chevron with techron high grade fuel, im sure cheaper lower grade fuel wears your valves like it does to a car right? im curious,like some of you care for filters,exhuast niose,oil who cares as much for the fuel that your engine burns? and are there any special injector or tank cleaners you use? or can i use the same cars do

Although I bought the FZ mainly for fun, economy was a consideration. I put just about any gas in it that I feel is decent gas - that means independants like USA are OK by me. Since the price dropped so much lately, I will jump up to mid-grade for weekend twistie runs. Other than that, it's just regular...

I use chevron since I have a chevron credit card. Always premium(91), haven't really had any problems.

I always use regular grade name-brand gas. although the name-brand is only because they tend to be cheaper here than the independent stations. On the 89 octane I get 55-60mpg, with mid grade i get about 55-60 mpg, and with high test i think i get about 60 or just over. not enough for the extra 25 cents, IMO.

When I picked up my new bike yesterday (in Australia) the dealer said use premium unleaded but steer clear of Shell. A mate of mine had to have serious work done on the engine of his new Buell due to using Shell. I'm using Caltext Vortex as they are handy on the way to work. Have any Aussie riders had any problems with this? Thanks.

I use the standard unleaded with no probs at all ,usually I stop at the Mobil servo on the way home from work.

Whatever brand you use I suggest that you purchase it from a high volume station where they have a large turnover on the fuel that way you are not getting old fuel. I would also try to find stations that have coventional gas rather the E10 gas.

99% of the time I use Chevron regular. Plenty of Chevron's here in LV and in California.

I almost always use Shell VPower, since my car requires premium and we have a shell card (5% off). I've always been very pleased with the quality and notice a difference when I switch brands.

+1 on the high volume stations.

All of the gas is the same until it gets dumped into the truck with the specific additive package for whichever company is buying the gas.

You just want to get some that isn't old, and doesn't have water in it.

I run regular, unless I'm going to be riding hard, or it's hot outside (Usually for me, if it's going to be much over 80 or so throughout the day, I'll run mid or premium.)

Just as an aside to the subject, most Gasoline brands in NH are really not what they appear to be. Most of the eastern stations get there supply from the Portland Me terminal, others load at the Revere MA terminal.

At each terminal one can load 3-4 different brands of gasoline products, Mobil, Citgo,Gulf etc when in fact they are refined and distributed by Irving Corp. Most Branded suppliers have an exchange agreement with Irving.

All the companies have a certain "spec" for their particular brand/grade of product, that is still supplied by IRVING.....

Many other states have a similar set ups based on the ports of entry and distribution networks/agreements with major suppliers.

I have been a little OCD about this and have reset my trip meter every time I fill up. I run the same route every day pretty much and run at the same speed. I have tried all the varieties of brands around except for little quick marts.

I swear I get an extra 30-40 miles out of using the Shell V Power.

regular fuel in the netherlands is octane 95, premium 98 and vpower and BP ultimate 100..
so even our regular fuel is better then the american stuff (With my car I only go shell, been good for me since ive had it, will probably do the same with my fz6 when I get it in 2 weeks)

Is that the R+M/2 method, or the other method? It makes a difference in the number. Also if it has enthanol, or alchohol, or methanol or any other -hol, -nol, -ol, that makes a difference too.

Shell most of the time because there are so many around here. But I never go to no-name gas stations....always chevron, mobil, shell, etc.

I usually use mid-grade and occasionaly I put in premium (not because I think I will get more power or any of that propoganda but because they put more cleaners etc in it.)

I stick to the name brand stations near work and where I live (Citgo, Shell, Mobil, BP). I mostly run 87 octane, unless I am going to be running the bike hard, then I put in 89 or 93.

usually premium considering gas was so high when i rode it the few cents didnt make much difference considering how many miles id get to a gallon
