Following on a similar thread, i now have:

1. 2 Engine mounting bolts, about 8cm longer than the standard.
2. 1 Polyethaline plastic solid tube 65mm wide and about 300mm long.

So all i need now is a lathe to shape the plastic into the correct format.

1 problem i see already is the recess in the frame where the bolts fit in, there's not much space for the slider to fit against the frame tightly. Further than that, how wide should they stick out? How rounded should they be?

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!!

You will need to use aluminum inserts for the bolts to bear against, if you just use the plastic frame slider then you can't torque the bolt enough.

I changed the end caps from aluminum to delrin so they would slide better. I have been trying to come up with a better method for a frame slider that won't put as much stress on the single engine mounting bolt and might even break the frame in a lay down. If you come up with a better slider let me know and perhaps we can make something.

Okay ... i was assured that it would not be a problem?

The makeup of the plastic is important, and i confirmed with a specialist" at the plastics lace that it would hold up to torque.

So, not disbelieving you, how can i make sure?

Otherwise, i'll need to lathe the aluminium too :)

The frame and engine mounts CAN break, another thread recently about that. All depends on how much force is applied ... in which direction, lol.

Thanks for that info!
