FRAME any year FZ6 - making electric FZ6

Someone gave me some Lithium Ion Batteries at school and I always wanted to make an electric motorcycle. If anyone has or know of any source to get an FZ6 frame or similar sport tour frame for VERY cheap with wheels and handlebars (rolling chassis) it would be appreciated. Since I have an FZ6 I'd rather use an FZ6 frame.

An electric motor I assume? or are you planning to hook a drive chain directly to the batteries?

Well an electric motor is used on electric vehicles, why would I hook a drivechain to the batteries? I will use a motor to turn this into an electric motorcycle.

It's a 1996 FZ, can't confirm since I've never seen a 1996 version.

My roommate has a few GSXR (600 750 and 1000) frames for sale. He only has the main frames (not the wheels forks ...) and the engine with everything it's attached to on some of them (including a honda 999cc but those would be useless for an electric bike) but you should be able to get them for pretty cheap. Let me know if you are interested.

Look, you come in here and say you have some batteries and want to make an electric motorcycle, so you need a rolling chassis... my point is that the chassis should be the least of your concern at this time... have you figured out the what kind of motor your batteries will be able to run? for how long? with what type of performance characteristics once it has to pull 500lbs of chassis/rider/etc...? How much will this motor cost? Where will you get it? What's your overall expectations for this motorcycle? 1 mile @ 25mph? 200miles @ 80mph? what is your overall budget? etc etc...

If making an electric motorcycle was as easy as taking a laptop (we don't know what kind of batteries were given to you) lithium ion battery, any electric motor and slapping all that in a rolling chassis, I think we'd have seen a few of them around already...

Not trying to be an ass, just trying to figure out how much you've thought this through... if my questions are all stupid, then please accept my apologies and good luck with your project... I look forward to seeing the end result.

Everyone except you knew what the title meant, the content, and that an electric motor is needed for an 'electric motorcycle'. It's not a mood thing it's a common sense thing. But I didn't get your joke obviously.

Also I am in the middle of converting a car to electric so I am aware of everything that goes with converting, a chassis is not of a concern because I know what chassis I want, everything is figured out or I would not of posted here. Should I consult you before I do anything? You seem to know it all!

So what motor will you be using? How much does such a motor cost? What will the World's First eFZ6 be able to accomplish in terms of mileage on a full charge?

You may want to rethink the frame choice. The FZ6 uses the engine as a stressed member, helping to stiffen the frame. Either that, or work out a way to replace the engine with the necessary bracing.

I have long dreamed of building my own electric bike and I agree with what was mentioned before,an FZ6 frame will need some major engineering .
You would be better off getting an older style full perimeter frame to mount the batteries and drive.

Well my bad and apologies to everyone!

Yeh I can put in stress members, the motor is 9" Diameter so I can put in the structural supports in and the electric motor can be placed in many positions in the frame. The batteries can be used as support as they are encased in aluminum. Gonna be interesting and I look forward to the challenge.
