Hello, I have a question for our english friends.
I have a FZ6 from Germany, and from february I will move to Nottingham.I heard that i cant matriculate(to obtain incorporation certificat) the bike because the light, which are made to drive the bike to the right side of the road. I'm not sure if I explained very well. When I must use short/high beam in Europe, there are not problems for my front cars who come to me on the road. But in UK, because I must drive on the other side of the road are problems.This is my question:If it is true or not.

Are you intending to move to the UK full time or are you just visiting?

If you are just visiting you can use a piece of tape on the headlight as a temporary measure.

If you are moving full time then possibly the headlight can be adjusted. I am sure about that but your bike is the European version so I cannot imagine you need a new headlight unit.

I know when I arrived back to the UK after working for the British forces in Germany i had to drive to the local customs centre to arrange the paperwork, which for me (at the time) was in Luton. BTW this was more than 15 years ago.

I know that for a car you can buy refractor stickers (that redirects the beam to the other side of the road), i don't know if there is anything similar for motorcycles (specifically the FZ6), and I don't know if this is sufficient to import the bike.

I would suggest phoning the customs offices in Britain to ask the correct procedure and specifically if the bike has to be modified to the UK (light) set up.

In the UK, we have the H7 bulb on the left and the H4 on the right and the H4 is normally off until you do the BikerDude mod so it doesn't shine into the eyes of drivers on the other side of the road. You may be able to change the bulb holders over. Or do the Bikerdude mod and then adjust both the headlights so the they shine more towards the left than the right. Going to a local bike garage and asking them how they test a bike's headlight for an MOT and what you would need to do to adjust yours from where it is.

Also, as you will need to register your bike as an import, you will need to declare this when getting insurance and it will probably make it a bit more. I had a chinese import bike and it was a bit difficult to find an insurer that would cover it and give me a decent deal.
