flasher wiring

Having laid it down and broken the front flasher housing, I'm trying to replace the whole assembly. my problem is I can't get the wiring connector thru the keeper/washer. Do I really have to cut the wires? Anyone come against this problem?

I am not as familiar with the first gens.....but it seems like it would have to go through some way or another.....is it bent at all?

to replace with a stock light i wouldnt think one would have to cut.. but being that i have not done this yet i dont know for sure..

but as the mounting points broke on the fairing where the signal braket bolts to i am gonna take them straight off and replace with aftermarkets in the side of the farings. so i plan on cutting some
