Flasher Relay

I just installed a relay from McCoy Motorsports, it slowed my blink rate down to what it should be, but caused a major problem. It made my odometer jump up in miles from 489 to 789, does anyone know what could have caused that, or what I can do to fix it? Any help is appreciated.

?????? are you sure your son,girlfriend or wife didnt take it for a 300 mile ride while you were sleeping?

there is no way that a signal flasher relay would effect the odometer,,,you either remember you odometer wrong or you may be looking at trip a or b or something,,,i dont even have a logical explanation for this one

You must have switched it to km/hr instead of mph

Wow, thanks for that, I was searching all over online looking for place to get my speedo recalibrated, thinking about taking to the dealer, and that's all it was.

do you hav pics of the relay? is it wired directly to the signals or somewhere near the fuse box? I've seen some Yamaha relays from Motrax, but the FZ6's wiring harness is different.

I didn't take a picture, but here is a link to the site I ordered it from. C LED Electronic Flasher Relay :: Lighting : Flushmounts : Tail Lights :: Kawasaki ZX-9r :: Kawasaki :: Manufacturers :: McCoy Motorsports The relay connects up front on the clutch side right around the actual turn signal. You have to disconnect the stock connector and reconnect it to the the new relay. It's pretty simple, I can take some pics if you'd like me too.

You should have bought the bike in Canada, then you wouldn't have that problem. Mine is forever stuck in km's

pictures would be great. i could never find the connector for the relay, so i just forgot about it lol

The pictures came out a littly blurry, but I think you should be able to get the idea. If you need me to clarify anything just let me know.


The black connector on the left side of the photo is where you remove the white connector from. After removing it simply plug the the white end of the connector into the new relay. The new relay plug is the white connector with the black and red wires on the right side (in photo 1). I mounted the relay with zip ties although it does have a small hole for other mounting options. If you put the bike on the centerstand and turn the bars full lock to the right, you should be able to find the connector easily on the left (clutch) side.
