What can be done about an excessively stiff throttle on an 06 FZ6? I'm going to try to lube the cables and take the assembly apart to see if there's any corrosion or gunk causing an issue, but as it's basically impossible to make precise on off throttle inputs in any sort of sport riding scenario. I don't know if there is a return spring I can buy after-market that's lighter, or some other way to fix this issue. Any advice appreciated.

I'd start by taking apart the right handlebar assembly (two long allen bolts underneath) and checking in there as it's a common source of problems with smooth throttle movement.

Note that there's a small ball bearing that can easily fall out and get lost if you're not careful!

Clean everything up in there and use some Duck Oil for lubrication to see if that helps.

Also, as you say, lube the cables or replace them if necessary. You may be able to spray some brake cleaner and lubricant onto the engine end of the throttle mechanism with a long tube on the spraycan, but it's probably easier if you take the airbox off first.

Don't forget to go into Diag mode and check the Throttle Position Sensor is moving smoothly through the range too.
