that royally blows that they are going to faze out the fz6. that sucks. i really like this bike, just wish they would do more for suspension. I wouldnt care if it cost a bit more, just label it sport touring and sell the $%^@ out of it. i do wonder what they would replace it with.. unless the fz6r is the replacement.
 
why would they phase out the FZ6? Its a very popular bike all over the world. Just not so much here in the US.
 
well, seems like we will just all have to take care of our bikes super well and keep them living on. it is a shame that they would start fazing out the FZ6, but why would they take sime steps backwards to do it? Steel frame? that is soooooo 1990's...
 
I suspected a possible phase out when I didn't see any new colors available for the 2009's in the US.
Too bad, really as I think it's a great bike.
 
I guess I'm not totally surprised either. Since the FZ6 was my first bike, I have to say that I was doing it over and the XJ6/FZ6R was my choice I think it would still have been a strong contender for the purchase since it has most of the same basic traits. It actually might have been an even easier decision since I wouldn't have worried it was too much bike quite so much. Who knows whether the lower capability would have translated into my not keeping it as long as the FZ. Heck, I still can't figure out what other bike I could buy today for similar money with more capability than my FZ.
 
I just dont see how they could keep the fz.

Its a odd bike, controlled fill die cast frame, 4 pot calipers, older r6 engine, and just doesnt fit with cost controls at its price point.

If they can sell the XJ6 for the same price and make it for less they will have to.

I plan on a VFR or Speed Triple as my next bike in 3 or 4 years. I like my middle wieght swiss army knife. Its just that if they kept it, it would need to sell more, and be more expensive.
 
look on the bright side..when they do phaze out the fz6, the bikes we own will be "exclusive"
 
I'm with you wrightme. I love my FZ6, but I just can't see how they can keep making it. I had the same thought as someone else that they were probably getting rid of the FZ when I saw that there were no new colors for '09.

I'm thinking either Speed Triple or Buell XB12Scg for my next bike. I love the naked look and have been thinking about converting my FZ anyway, although now I probably won't. I'll just wait and make my next bike a naked.

RIP FZ6. It's too bad more Americans don't know a great thing when they see it.

Bad move if you ask me.

I don't mind the look of it, but, less HP, crap front brakes, the box-frame swing arm. Think I'll just look after my bike.

I sat on it at the NY motorcycle show this weekend. It is a nice beginner bike. It feels narrower than the FZ6 and with a lower height - definitely a plus for shorter people, women and beginner riders. I think the FZ6 could probably still be sold since the numbers are not bad - I bet they sell more of it than the r6s. But, what do I know...

In South Africa we don't know what we will get the FZ6R or XJ6, I hopeit will be the FZ6R!

I've owned a FZ6 S2 for 6 months and had to part with her for another her - just to pay the wedding, she loves the Yami.

NOW, what will I get in 6 months? I saw majority kicked the FZ6R but won't they do that about the FZ6 on a R6 forum? If balanced torque is one of the differences between the R6 and theFZ6 - if they could better that on a FZ6R why not? I don't go over 200km/h (can't find anywhere what the Fz6R will be capable of) and if I get better clutch use and more torque on a GR8 looking bike (4 me) I'm happy.

FZ6-Forum is my main browsing every day, stuff all the others, and I ope I'll be welcome infuture with my White FZ6R.
- already looking for a Brembo uprade, just because youall say the brakes sucks...
 
I have always thought that when you release a new model it should be better than the last, otherwise whats the point. Clearly the XJ is inferior in most respects, so what is the point. Well it has moved down market from the FZ and they say they are going to faze :rolleyes: out the fazer, that would leave a big hole up to the R6 so I hope they plug it with something else, maybe that is the point.

As for balanced torque (it is not more tourque it is less @ peak) well thats just piffle :D and is a function of the reduced rev range. I want revs and lots of them, otherwise we might as well be using diesel. Dam it I'd be happy with a 2 stroke. :squid:

thats a big bummer to hear our fazer is gonna be phrased out....think have to look at other bike if something happens to my fazer...im not swayed by the diversion..
 
When it is time to do something with the FZ6, will I have an option at the FZ1? I like everything about the FZ. Being an Extra Tall Guy, the FZ is one of the only bikes that i have been comfortable on.
