first mods

seeing as im new to the forums please be gentle with me

not really had the FZ long but just finished doing a few starter mods....

Scorpion cans, Evotech tailtidy, 7x5 regplate, Goodridge braided hoses and the best one so far as far as im concerned popping some FZ1 bars onto it. Really improved the handling in my opinion.. feel a little bit more confident in slowly eliminating the chicken strip...

+1 to pics! I have braided brake lines as well but am still figuring the best way to route them, they are longer than the stock lines and my new fender doesn't have the little tiedown on the top that the old one did.

to answer the brake hose question, it was very easy to change the OE hoses for the Goodrich ones, the rear hose follows the line of the swing arm, whereas the front hoses dont foul anywhere, ill get some pics tomorrow to show the routing, other things took precedent today, but i did manage to get a couple of pics of the tail tidy and Scorps just after they were fitted onto the laptop...

as regards to the frame sliders im undecided as to whether im gonna go down that route, although i do have my eye on some nice Pazzo levers and a rather fetching set of Gillies rear sets.......

i did away with the little black guide as trying to get 2 braided hoses through was a bit tight lol. as i said earlier ill post a few pics soon:thumbup:

Just from an economical perspective frame sliders are worth every penny. From an athestics perspectiv eI have never had anyone comment on them ever.

I'd use the search feature to find the tons of threads of people who WISH they had put on frame sliders the day they just dropped the bike on its side...not to mention those who crashed while moving. They're inexpensive (Shoguns are $40) and as mentioned: WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I've only had people comment positively on the sliders when they see them. Not so much as "Those things look cool" but I've gotten a few "That is really smart, I wish I had those when I wrecked"s. Reminds me I need a new left one...

Also, they're not all black tubes now. The R&G Aero ones are really sexy. I'm pretty sure that PowerBronze and a few others do some nice looking ones that are of the same style too.

Frame sliders or a cage are the FIRST thing you should buy! Also, if you're worried about what others will think of you and your bike: proper bikers will mostly think "idiot, he's spent all that money, but doesn't have sliders". :spank:

Gotta love those brake lines huh? big difference in feel and control. The new Scorps look great too!

i do love them... rode my mates FZ1 and the brakes dont feel anywhere near as good lol.. and my wallet is empty already after buying another toy, 4 wheeled not 2 tho, but i do have my eyes on some Gillies and some Pazzo's. May go for some LED indicators and after a long discussion with a friend some R&G Aero sliders are on the horizon. Considering i wasnt gonna do too much to it the shopping list just keeps getting longer

How do you like the FZ1 bars? I need new bars and was thinking about those. They look much straighter than the FZ6 bars. How does it feel (riding position)?

They are lower as there is only the one bend per side on them not 2 like the standard bars. Gives it a more flatter look.:thumbup:

personally the bike feels better into corners, and more managable at low speed manoevers(sp) some may disagree, but at the end of the day it is down to personal preferance, and being an ex-mx rider i prefer the slightly wider bar feel that i get with the FZ1 bars.

if you do go down the route of doing the bar conversion, be prepared to do some minor drilling as the forward control locating pins are in different positons to the FZ6 ones. the throttle side is 180deg. opposite and the clutch side is 90deg. different.
