Exhaust fit

Hi all, new to this forum as I only bought my 2006 fz6 lately.
I bought an exhaust off eBay for it but I’m struggling to figure out the brackets that came with it. I know what they’re for (securing the cans to the bike) but because of their shape I can’t figure out how to do it, can anyone help please?

Is there a brand name on the mufflers?

Thank you. No name on them, there’s two Leo Vince adhesive logos to put on them but I know they’re not genuine Leo Vince. I asked the seller for fitting instructions and was told there is none but it’s an easy install.

I’m hoping this horrible photo helps. The cans are supported by the muffler clamps, via the brackets, to the structure that runs across the top. The brackets go between the bolts on the muffler clamps and the available M8 bosses on the ends of the black beam.

Thanks Gary. The problem I have (please see attached photo) is that the brackets are angled wrong. Don’t mind the positioning as nothing is tightened up yet but the holes on the brackets face each other instead of any of the bolt holes on the bike. No matter what way I position them they’re not designed right to match anything on the bike

Something ain't right with those brackets.

Do you access to a welder or do any light metal work?

It wouldn't take but two tabs (for each muffler) welded to what you have,
then bolt to the Yamaha rubber mounts


Actually, a 90' bent bracket (for each one), could bolt between what you have
and the Yamaha mount. They'd be pretty short, 1.5" maybe?

The bracket would need 2 holes, and go between
what you have currently have...

Looking at how mine are attached…

You need to move the muffler clamps back so they are directly under the black horizontal cross member (with the loose bolts).

Turn the muffler brackets 180 degrees so they are under the bolts.

I’m “guessing” that the supplied wire hangers go between the bottom of the horizontal bracket and the muffler brackets. If not you may be able to improvise with some brackets from Tractor Supply or Lowe’s.

Those are 'universal fit' mufflers. Those brackets aren't specifically for this bike. They supply different types of mounts so they can be made to fit different applications.
In many cases, mufflers specifically for these bikes are 'slip-on' and come with the u-hooks (for welding on) and mounting springs only.

Thanks guys, a bit of DIY needed I think. Maybe I might even change them altogether and get the dominator exhaust. Anybody got these?

For old bikes where the most respected companies are no longer supplying exhausts, I always go with Delkevic. Always excellent workmanship…but they tend to be loud.

Scorpions, no doubt. No re-packing-ever..

Not too loud at lower RPM's, higher RPM's-screams! (no DB killers)

Thanks everyone. I made a mistake going for the less expensive ones, live & learn
Going to see what I can get now, not as much choice with the older bikes. Scorpion looks fantastic on the bike, Delkevic looks very impressive too

I think the Scorps have a lower deeper tone.

After 8-10,000 RPMs, it sounds like a "go fast" liter bike (IMO).
