I stopped by Fry's today and pickup up a 50" Panasonic Plasma TV. 1080P, 600 mhz refresh. And the icing on the cake is "Mad Max" in Blu Ray.

Actually I won a 32" Sony LCD this weekend in a slot tournament over at the Hard Rock Casino. They were giving away 80 of these flat screens. My problem was, how do I get it home? Remember, my bike is my only ride.
Threw it in a back of a cab, took the medallian # number down (You think I'm going to trust a cabbie), and told him to follow me home.

Nice! Looks like TV's are the go this year for Christmas...i got an early Christmas present from the Missus too...a 55inch Full HD LED LCD 200HZ TV for christmas too...
Have to agree, Blu-ray is amazing, and movies like Mad Max, Terminator, etc, have never looked so good! Incredible stuff!
In fact i was playing PS3 on mine last night, and the SBK10 was just something else on one of these TV's..

you are all making me jealous now, i have had my 40" Plasma for a few years and love it! but bigger and LED seem to be the way to go now!

^^^ This TV was an upgrade from a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD I'd had for about 5 to 6 years. I paid out the nose for that set. For this set I paid only $850. It's amazing how prices have dropped and the quality has improved dramatically.
It took me a while to figure out what size to get. I started at 50, then back to 42, then 46, then back to 50. After playing Halo Reach and watching "Mars Attacks" last night, I'm glad I went with the 50.

Hope you guys have a nice speaker system to attach the devices to. Nothing like that rumble from the subwoofer. 
:thumbup: Will be buying a 46" LED 1080p 120hz refresh shortly. I was looking at blue ray players, but seem to be pointed towards just buying a ps3. any thoughts?

we have at home two old school samsung tvs of just 21" and no surround sound of any kind.
Have in mind that I live with my parents and they are not tv lovers, just the news, some cinemax or similar movie, some discovery or history channel documentary, some Euro or local football match - yep, you read well the real football :BLAA: - and that's all, and not everything the same day.
I spent all day long sometimes working extra hours in front of a pc at the office, so when I am home I am not really interested in spend a lot of time in front of any screen. I didn't grew up playing video games and when I had the money for obtaining myself I never had interest on them.
So at least for me and my family no real interest or need for a big screen and sound.
To each its own

That's great! We paid that for our 42" two years ago. Don't know if it would have been worth the wait, but that price for a 50" would have been awesome.

Thoughts on the TV or PS3?
For the TV, bigger is always better, go as big as you can fit in your space and can afford, you will not regret it.
As for PS3 vs. a dedicated blu-ray, the PS3 still costs about $300, right? Decent stand-alone blu-ray players can be had for $120, maybe less. So if you want a game system, buy the PS3, it is also a great blu-ray player. But if you don't care about playing games, save some money and just buy a blu-ray palyer.
