Do you wave to other riders??

So you guys say the low peace sign, you know it's actually group cycling hand signal for danger ahead and it's not a peace sign, it's two fingers pointed to the ground. Just thought I let you guys know, and I do wave too...

Oh yeah, but mostly I get girls checking, had some blowing me kisses the other day... too bad they had a kid in the rear seat...

Had a ride out yesterday for the battle of Hastings run.
The A21 seemed to be lined with people waving to us including a lot of people with flags. It was nice to see bikes being popular for a change.
As usual the HD crowd seemed to be to cool to join in.

I guess I fall into the southern hospitality thingy here as well. I would say the numbers are in the 90-95% "return" wave category here. Don't see it much in town as we're all focusing on the road but when you hit the highway (divided or not) you just about always get the two fingered down low wave. I appreciate the acknowledgement on the road as we're all in it together. I saw in an earlier post where the peace wave was an indication of danger ahead but locally an old HD dude told me the two finger down with the thumb up (three fingered wave) displayed down low indicated "keep the tires down and the rider up". Again, I don't know how accurate that is but this dude is from CA and was around when moses walked the earth. Come to think of it, the guy has a framed picture of him and Charles Manson from back in the 60's sitting on a porch drinking a beer so he may just be full of crap LOL....

One of my favorite stickers i have on my tool cabinet says..."IT USED TO BE ABOUT THE BIKE NOW ITS A G@D D#MN FASHION SHOW" I wave to everyone..of course when safety allows... during my own unscientific testing and research i have realized that there is usually two groups of non wavers.Theres the Ultra Sport Bike usually a newbie rider who is way to cool to wave or the R.U.B who is way too stuck up to wave at someone who has less chrome than them on their bike...I have found that people who are still rockin the old school 80's Jap bikes are just happy to be riding at all and wave to everyone...It used to be about the riding and the bike now its about bike night and trailering your bike to bike week...what i liked about riding when i first started out on my GS550 back in the day was that i felt a sense of comraderie cause seeing a rider out on the roads was few and freedom from the stresses of society...Now its high school all over again...lol.
JOCKS are riding the Sport bikes
RICH KIDS are riding err excuse me "showing off" their "Custom" Cruiser
POOR KIDS riding the used Jap bikes dreaming of a custom cruiser
THEN THERES THE COOL KIDS (us) who really dont give a SH*T what you ride We will wave to you anyways!!
PS I used to rock the peace sign now I throw up the horns..:rockon:

I find it amusing that both sport riders and Harley riders have this thing about waving to each other-- whats next only to Yamaha's or only FZ6

I figure we both have wind in our face and so I wave if it is safe.... I do not bother to wave while in Daytona .... just not safe and TOO MANY bikes to bother.

as to the comment--
"Some poor sap in a styro helmet, and spandex doesn't really inspire a lot of fear in a cager" if that guy is over 6 feet tall and goes about 215 and is full of adrenaline cuz you just nearly killed him ....and he just chased you down on a bike..... He could instill some fear.

Over the years I have done this more than once and think in the future I should supply some toilette tissue to clean the soiled britches of the guys in the cages.

I wave at all bikers. I have noticed only about 50% of the Harley types wave back, but I try to set the example and wave anyway.

Always but not in on a curve. One exception is scooters, I don't know why but I call them weiner bikes.
