I'm not sure about 04-05 models, but on 06 they're really high for any passenger. Lowering sets are not that many in existence and whatever is there are expensive. So, I decided to get creative and try my DIY versions.
Here is one really cheep with about 30 mins of work. I've done it as a trial project, but my wife really liked them and wants to leave them as is.
The only drawback is that you can't fold them up, but with more creativity you may come up with a solution. Doesn't bothers me though.

Get a 4ft 1x1 inch metal rod from Home Depot. (I think about $6)

Cut 2 4.5 inch pieces off it.

The upper part of the extender will be a little too wide, just hammer it a bit so it will fit into the bike's peg holder.

Cut the lower side of the rod for the footpeg to fin into it:

Drill upper and lower holes, but make sure the upper holes will align with the ones on the bike and will sit as tight to the bike as possible.
The lower hole should be aligned with the footpeg hole, but make sure that the footpeg won't move downwards. (drill as close as possible to the back of the extender).
Paint them in black and wait until they're dry.
You'll need 2 additional pins, but can also use a bolt & nut in the lower part

Here is a final product :)
If you screwed up the first time, you still have enough of the iron pol and a experience to make another one or 2... :)

That's a great idea!
My wife hasn't complained yet...but if you flip them over would it work for kids?
