Danish Eviormental Politiics .......

I have to correct myself. I was under the illusion that you would typically pay less than 5% in income taxes in the US.
Now after looking into the OECD numbers published, - I realise that im WAY off!!
Apparently the average married person in the US pays close to 27% income tax, - and in Denmark close to 45% ....

Therefore my "If you were right about this, - we should not see any people suffering in the US" comment should not have been posted.

Hey no biggie. I enjoyed the conversation man.

Hardway, you made me laugh!

I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to 'green' taxation. The reason for not selling the excess energy to foreign countries would be to keep the price of energy in the generating country high. The higher the price of energy the higher the revenue for the generating company and the higher the revenue for the government from the profits.

What better way to raise more revenue than tax for 'green' purposes when all other excuses run out?

As I said before, Denmark has no national debt and we are all paid well.
All our services work very well as well as having the benefits already mentioned.
To just say we could spend the money more wisely than the government obviously comes from someone who`s government has no idea of how to spend money...or at least that is there perception.

Our government actually know what they are doing and until you have experienced that then it is difficult to accept that a government exists who can do that.

But I think we have lost the general idea of this thread now.
