D-ring or seatbelt type buckle?

I personally like the simplicity of the good old D-ring.
I have found that there are a number of quick release buckle type release mechanisms out there.
AGV K series has a little step you have to get the clasp over even when you press the release button.
Caberg have a simple slot in buckle.

From a point of view of having to remove riders helmets, D-rings are also so much easier. Especially if there is a specific technique involved to the buckle that you don't know about.
Once at speedway I was trying to remove a Nitro helmet from an unconscious rider. It took way to long as I was not familiar with the buckle mechanism.

What system do you all prefer to keep your helmet secure to your chin?

I like the simplicity of the D-ring. Maybe it's years of riding dirt bikes, but I don't think I'd be happy with another system and haven't seen proof that anythings better than a D-ring, so D-ring it is.

Most of my helmets have d ring but my Schuberth has a buckle-much easier to operate with gloves on.

D-ring for me. Maybe this is old hat to everyone but me but when I bought a new helmet a couple months ago it had a snap on the need of the strap to secure the flapping end near the D-ring. How come it took 50+ years to think of that???

I voted for the Quick Release buckle only because my ACH Advanced Combat Helmet (Kevlar) has one and it works great. I've used the D Ring, or Double Ds , for years and they are easy to use too. But a QR is really handy.

Hmm.. I bought my first helmet six years ago, and every helmet I've owned has had a similar snap

Double D Ring, cause they dont come undone, as there is no clasp, or catch to break.

Evolution is a slow process mate lol. It used to bug the hell out of me when you get the excess strap flapping under your right cheek.
In the past I would cut the strap down to prevent it.

If you are untrained to do so, you may exacerbate an injury. However, If the person is not breathing or has an obstructed airway that will kill them first. The guy who's helmet I was removing was not maintaining an airway.
Fortunately I am trained in the safe removal of crash helmets.
It is also a two person technique.

Thats what my rationale for using D-ring is.
Is it an age thing or do bikers generally prefer the D-ring?

My new Caberg has the qucik release system, it has two tiny springs in it. I would definately consider it a weak spot.
I wonder if the retaining systems are tested in the helmet rating tests?

Some reviews says it's cumbersome, but I find it great as you can easily vary how tight it is, this is ideal if you wear a neck/face cover or not.
I've always found the D ring to be a bit difficult to use, especially with winter gloves.

I also have a Nolan, which has a pretty good quick-release buckle. Once it's adjusted properly it works great.

Nothing wrong with a D-ring though.
