Choking out

Are you saying your bike is cutting out when you just start it on a cold engine?... choke would imply carburetors... FZ6 (and FZ6r) are fuel injected. The computer likely richens the fuel mixture depending on what temp readings its getting. Could be a temp sensor not working right? do you have an aftermarket fuel controller? you could unplug the battery for a couple minutes then plug everything back in and let it idle for a bit, let the ECU reset the fuel mapping etc.
 
No mines fuel injected but has a heat controlled choke that operates off the coolant ..... Much like a heat riser on a vehicle , the shop I took it too seems to not be able to get it adjusted right . When I ride it down the road after it warms up ass the engine gets cooler is starts to flood out a little until it warms up to about 170 anything love than that it runs like ****
 
Its an idle air control valve and like our FZ6, coolant temperature acts on bi-metalic spring to change the air metering which changes the idle speed.

That same valve also controls the idle air mixture or as many will call them the TB sync screws...
The point being there are three ways to break the bikes main idle speed screw rendering it in effective.
- Sync screws too far in or too far out.
- C1/C2 fuel offset ( controls injector duty cycle).
- Fuel controller adding too much fuel at idle.

Are any of these possibilities?
If not then it likely has vacuum leak from one or more of the hoses under the air box. They could be cracked, worn, or even missing the plugs to the venturi sync ports...

Please give some details on how it runs.
 
Look at these and confirm there are no air leaks from the hoses. After that its likely an adjustment unless your coolant is so brown and nasty it stuff the valve.

Just to confirm, it IS an FZ6, you have it noted as a :" fx6r " CORRECT???

How many miles on the bike and when was the coolant last changed?

Where I'm going is in the the last picture posted above (by FinalImpact) , if those coolant hoses (IAC) are clogged
The engine will think its ALWAYS COLD and keep the engine running in the "enriched mode" .

I would be specifically inspecting those two ports in the IAC, (hook up two hoses and see if water flows easily thru them)
plus visual. Why the hoses are off, (and its going to make a mess if functioning correctly), start the bike
and see IF YOU HAVE COOLANT FLOW going into it, and perhaps blowing into the "exit" should that be clogged.

Of course, fluid should flow easily thru the unit...


There is NO adjustment to speak of for the "COLD MODE".


The air adjusting screws- for normal syncing, or by-passing and adjusting the CO settings, etc, may affect running cold.

**If the 4 air screws (on the same unit) have been adjusted, the "starting point" is 3/4 a turn out from lightly seated..**
