I know some of us are a bit lax in checking tire pressures sometimes. I know I should check them at least every time I get gas but I don't always have time or just can't be bothered.

I checked mine this morning and my front tire was almost 10psi low! The rear wasn't so bad, but it was low as well.

Exactly. That's why I wanted to remind everyone to go out and do it today. It's one of those things I just kept putting off but should have done much sooner.

I find as soon as they are getting a bit low I feel it straight away as the bike feels heavier when leaning through bends. I also give my tires a prod with my finger before setting off, to see if they are spongy at all.

I need a better gauge. I have the standard chrome stick type that is hard to use on the bike especially the front, trying to wedge it between the brake rotor and wheels.

When I get my new tires, I'm getting them to install the angled valve stems as well because I find it awkward to check and change the air pressure with the normal valves.

I have a pretty nice large round gauge that is also a fill chuck. It is very accurate. I also have a stick gauge, and a digital stick gauge. Neither one is off by more than 1psi disagreement.

I check my tires alot, its a really good idea, and reminder.

Thanks! It also looks like they bolt in instead of just getting forced through. I wonder if they ever come loose? I'd loctite the crap out of them if it were me just to be sure.

From changing lots of tires it is recomended that valve stems be replaced every tire change.

I dont do that but they do need to be replaced every few years, being a giant hole in the only things that keep you from dieing and all. LOL.

Locktite isnt needed. They seal well and stay tight in my experince.

My eye surgeon was able to calibrate by lenses to read tire pressure from a disctance of up to 10 ft. It cost a little more than standard LASIK but its much more convenient than my finger which needs regular calibration. I just can't decide if I should keep the old index finger as a backup or sell it on E-bay.

I get new ones whenever I change tires. The ones with the angle weren't available last time at the store, so I went with normal ones. They never charged me for those.
