My 2008 Yamaha fz6 check engine light comes on when on the throttle but turns off when idle. The rpm’s also go up and down slightly at idle and is very rough.

Check for possible over voltage with a voltmeter. Your Regulator Rectifier may have failed. You should see 13 plus volts but anything over 14.5 is getting high.

Okay thank you! That will be my next check tomorrow for sure! I was thinking it was something involving the charge of it. I just noticed now that it’s night time the lights are dimming with the idle fluctuations. I’ll let everyone know if that ends up being the problem! I was thinking it could be the stator, my bike is at 29.117 miles. But it has been sitting for about 4-5 years. It was kept outside for 1-2 but the rest has been garage kept. I got it a new fuel pump and filter. Most of the time it sat it had an empty tank.
