The offical service manual states that one must losen the rear axle nut (singular) on the chain side swingarm before turning the 2 x 2 sets of chain adjustmnet nuts (plural).

I also saw an old post here that referred to only one rear axle nut needing to be losened. However, I have seen another post here (years old) that refers to both axle nuts needing undoing.

Whilst the manaul clearly refers to only one nut, logic tells me that the rear wheel might go out of alignment if I only undo one axle nut.

What do you think, please ?

06 and older you need to hold the nut on one side while turning the other to loosen the axle. )7 and up have a retainer on one side and different swing arm.

Thanks guys, of course it is so obvious now you mention it. I now see one bolt which (I guess) goes through the wheel hub.

The "head of the bolt" did look like a shallow nut but I see there is only one nut.

Thank you.
