CBR600RR single exhaust on my 2005 FZ6.

So after searching for a "less expensive" and more original option to get a better sound out of my exhaust, i decided to modify a performance CBR600rr exhaust to fit mine. I decided on a Boz Brothers Gild system. These exhausts sound awesome and it was, and may still be on clearance on ironponys' site. It ran $109 shipped to my door. I wont go into too much detail unless you guys want me to,but the exhaust came with the muffler and pipe. The pipe fit nice with just a little modification. The pipe runs directly off the header (eliminated cat). You could keep the CC if you want to but i just decided to eliminate it all together. I still have some ends to tie up cosmetically. I will be filling the extra space around the muffler with some black mesh. Its going to look as clean as i can make it. I know that it may not suit some people...but for me, it works great . Make sure to put up pics of the completed job. I've been considering this, and I was wondering how it would turn out.

My thought was to vacuum form some acrylic though.

I think you are on to something. The question of how can I get a cheap aftermarket exhaust gets raised quite frequently on this forum.

I am sure lots of people would like to know exactly what mods you had to do to get this to work. and the question of the day will remain how well you are able to finish that space left on both sides left by the stock unit.

Sorry everyone, i was at work. . .But here is a list of the minor mods. . .
#1: The pipe that comes with it- The end that connects to the header has a bend in it that prevents the pipe from clearing the suspensions shock...What i did was cut off the weirdly bent piece and welded on the straight piece of my stock exhaust of about the same size. I believe that the CBR exhaust is 2"ID while the FZ6 is 2"OD. . so this ALSO elminated any mating issues to the header. Kind of a kill 2 birds with 1 stone scenario. Besides that. I am still trying to figure out a 100% solid way of mounting the exhaust from moving left and right due to vibrations (will be working on it tommorow). The only other mod was obviously cutting the piece of plastic right below the tail light, and cutting a majority of the luggage plastic out. I still wanted to retain the locking mechanism for the seat aswell as a small compartment for the tools and registration. . .which i managed to do. . .Ill have some pics up soon. I am also excited to see others joining in on the fun! This really allows you to put your thought and personality into the bike. . . $100 for an awesome exhaust isnt bad at all ;-). . .BTW my brother had a cheapo harbor freight welder and was able to get a pretty good seal on the two mated pieces. . .So if anyone has a friend with a welder. . .its time to buy them some beers! Not before welding of course. . .

I did this a while back with the Jardine exhaust and have been riding around pondering the open space in back for a while now. I was thinking about doing some fiberglass work to fill it in, but have ultimately decided on doing a tail swap. I have an 04-05 GSX-R tail that I am switching to.

That is splendid, was there much fabrication required to join the CBR and FZ6 pipes together?
How did you make the bracket to hold the tail pipe?
I really like the way the tailpipes dimensions really fill the space under the seat. With some of the tail pipe mods there is a lot of negative space left.
