Buying Advice...I was gonna ditch the headlight anyway!

I'm looking for my first bike...I know its going to be a FZ6 that I want to make it a naked bike? A local Salvage yard has a '06 FZ6 w/ 4600 mi. for $2600...but it was laid down...

Damage: TAIL FAIRING, FRONT FAIRING, HEADLIGHT, STATOR COVER, LEFT PEG, CLUTCH LEVER, AND LEFT MIRROR ARE ALL BROKEN. FRAME, GAS TANK, SWING ARM, AND LEFT PASSENGER PEG ARE ALL RASHED. BARS, UPPER STAY, AND RADIATOR ARE BENT. HAS KEYS...STARTS AND RUNS.

Sounds a bit expensive imo.

If rashed frame, gas tank and swing arm are not a problem for you (these are expensive parts), and you can make sure the frame/sub-frame, triple-clamp and forks are not tweaked, then tell them you'll take it for $1500... more than that and they're trying to take your money!

This is my opinion though, and I am no expert!

also buying a good one for piece of mind and then selling the good fairings can cover most if not all of the conversion.

depends on what the mean by rashed, but they listed most of the important parts on the bike and they are only about $1500-$2000 less than a perfect condition used FZ. i would not go more than $1000 for it... But that is just me.

Thanks for the advise...I passed on the salvaged bike and got a used '06 from my local yamaha shop for $4600.
