bright headlights? lumens? temp? confused.. please help

I never never thought headlight bulbs could be so complicated. I find myself doing alot of night riding due to high heat during the day. It is time to upgrade but wanted to get an idea what a good bright bulb set would be before I google myself into delerium.

I understand the wattage and that we should not exceed wattage on these bikes for 2 reasons - 1) crappy stator output (also have bd43 mod) and 2) heat could cause a problem

So if I were to, say, go for a pair of 5800k bulbs what are we talking about in terms of improvement over a stock halogen bulb? I don't have the cash to even think about HID or projector systems so that is out of the question.

so what do you guys think? any ideas to help me out?

If you're running a stock headlight bulb, try a PIAA. They;re noticeably brighter.

Piaa seems to cost alot. Would these compare to something like Sylvania ultra?

In my experience, PIAA seems a bit brighter than Sylvania.
