Here my humble opinion...
I never have owned the T compay cage ever, so I don't really know how their qualities.......ha ha ha

In mordern models, electronic components are critical and won't be replaced back to analog sysytems; never.
I heard many similar incidents; sudden acceleration, from other company's models too. (can't tell as those are from out of the state)
Mostly, caused by un-controllable electronic mal-functions.
Some researches have been done even with Cell-Phone signals to find the reason;
if it can short the electronic circuits >> no final results so far as long as I heard in the news.

Electronc components have its life cycle, those won't last for a long time. ???
Even computer chips and memories have recommended usage time span... ha ha ha

These days, all the companies try to reduce production cost to compete with others.
Results go into >> cheaper parts >> drivers get litter cheaper price
>> but quality goes down >> and then ... do not need to tell after all

IMHO, some of them (current accidents) are in this un-lucky conditions.

Like we; I; may not have how serious the problems are as we have not experienced those accidents and didn't lost any family members.
Think about those families who lost because of it...

I don't blame in certain companies, but need to think about it..

Hopely, our FZ6 won't have similar problems so that I could enjoy without worries for a long time. ^^;
Does FZ6 use electronically controlled intake system??? or use analog cable???

Come on, you really are worried about a few cases of over blown media hype? You do realize this is just a government plot to dis Toyota so we would buy more of their cars - you know those POS GM vehicles our government bailed out.

I drive roughly 16,000-18,000 in 7 months every year for my job. As you can imagine I see lots of accidents and I have to agree many times its SUV's usually mid 90's jeep cherokee's. I also find that people that drive 4wd's think they never need to replace tires...... I can usually find at least one car parked around me in a parking lot with a spank bald tire on it.... The fact is people put very little thought into the maintence of their car. I personally would prefer to drive my front wheel drive 08 scion xb with winter tires on it in a snow storm than any 4wd vehicle... knock on wood I havent had a problem yet, I can go as fast as I want to. As far as this recall pretty pathetic the hype its getting. Has there been any news of one actually doing it? If I remember correctly I heard on the news that it could so Toyota was taking preventative measures... You will most likely be backed over in a parking lot long before you get hit by a run away car.....

I test drove a then new '09 Camry last year when I was car shopping. After reading that it was the best thing since sliced bread I figured what the heck. That was perhaps one of the worst driving experiences in my life. That car has the personality of a paper sack. For being the most popular car in the US, now I fully understand why. Heck my toaster has more character.

I've had 5 Toyota's. Three Tacomas, One Celica and One Corolla. All great cars / trucks. I'm glad my current Tacoma is a 1999 model before the throttle by electronics days. That's part of the problem. Everything now is electronic. Now just think. Do you have problems with your computer from time to time? Same with cars. You can't die however with a computer. This much worse.
I still love my Toyota and hopefully won't need another one for another 10+ years.

Count me in the Loyal Toyo Owner camp.

Had an 89 pickup that was indestructable... hit a guardrail on black ice at 55mph hard enough to knock the rack and pinion off center, so the tires pointed slightly away from each other, and I came to rest in 3 feet of snow in the median. I got out, dug out the hub centers, locked the 4WD, put it in low, and calmly backed myself out of it like I was on asphalt, then drove it carefully on the shoulder to a safer spot to wait for a tow truck.

Also bought a 93 corrola 4 door from a co-worker once for $1300, drove it for a year (put 30k on it), had nary an issue, and sold it the next year for $1,500.

That latest incident in San Diego where a CHP got in front of that Toyota going 90MPH---cop should have written out a speeding ticket! All those Toyota drivers---write them up for speeding. (kinda joking) I realize some have died in horrible accidents, some of which unavoidable. But, geeez, couldn't some of them have just shifted into neutral, or turned key off in time before wrecking? Anyway, sounds like it could be an excuse now for Toyota drivers pulled over for speeding. "Officer, my throttle stuck, that's why I was doing 100 MPH."

Loyal Toyman here. Bought my first one in 1984 and have had one in the driveway almost every year since. Strayed a couple times to "American" cages but quickly realized our mistakes.

Currently, 2007 TRD Taco Double Cab and a 2010 Yaris sedan in the garage.

What I like about Toyota is they are dependable, reliable, well equipped and always have a high resale value. All my many years of driving a Toy, I've only even broke down once. On the 1988 mini, the fuel pump died. Less than $30 and 10 minutes at the side of the road and I was on my way again.

At least Toyota owns up to fault and corrects it, often in a big way. Other companies all drag their feet and it takes a useless lawsuit to get them to recall an auto.

I'll still buy one tomorrow if I was in need.

I have first hand experience with this.

my 08 xb had a rear speed senor go bad. This just caused the traction control to not work from time to time. Personally didnt bother me, I just didnt like the lights in the dash.... mind you only one side was bad they replaced both rear hub's because it was all one piece!!! I stand behind Toyota/Scion/Lexus! On top of that I work on the road 7 months out of the year so them getting the part and me being home was very difficult It took a year to get it done but by that point it was about 20,000 miles out of warranty. Still did the work no questions asked and not a penny out of my pocket!!!!

Dads 2005 F250 50,000 miles. Has had 3 sets of headers rot off of it and ford will do nothing about it......

My Wife and I bought a Toyota 4Runner ten Years ago. It's been her daily driver all these years. We change the fluids. I put plugs in it maybe 7 years ago did the brakes once. It hasn't gotten a lot of miles and still looks great. Only ever had to do little stuff to it. Best car we've ever owned and still is. My Jeep Rubicon was stolen and instead of me getting another car my wife and very best friend got a Rav4.

I never think about some ones accelerator sticking but often watch people rolling by texting! :spank: I worry about that!

The Prius guy here in San Diego is going to need a "Balloon Boy" balloon to sail away on when the Yoda techs and lawyers get done with him.

In the meantime, "No officer, I wasn't doing 90 mph in a 65 mph zone! My accelerator stuck!!!!" Haha!!!! :rof:

Being a technician at a toyota dealer and personally doing these recalls, all i got to say is that the whole situation was blown way out of proportion. The fix is simple for both the floor mats and the pedals. I would drive one of the effected vehicles without getting the recall performed and still feel one hundred percent safe, maybe a little bored driving, but safe.
