Automotive fuel pump

On most fuel injected bikes someone has usually figured out which fuel pump from a car or truck will fit so instead of spending $600 on a replacement pump you spend about $75. I've done a search on this site and have not found that information yet. The FZ6 pump, the actual electric part - not the plastic housing, is exactly the same as the stock Suzuki TL1000R pump, in fact I have that fitted in the bike now (but as the stock pump was defective - that is why I replaced it- the FZ6 is still not running but at least it is now making the "priming" sound).
The automotive replacement for the TL1000R is an '84 Dodge Caravan pump, however the housing to the TLR is more flexible for attachment than the FZ6 where the pump plugs directly into the plastic housing and not into some fuel line. If no one knows which pump fits I'll take the Dodge pump out of the TLR and try it in the FZ6 but at the moment I have a full tank of gas and changing the pump out is a pain in the ass. Help me out fellahs:rockon:

Update:
I have ordered a car fuel pump off eBay for the insanely low price of $21.95 shipped, from the photo and the model number I think I can make it work. I'll let you know how I get on..................

This is not going well. The stock pump assembly has three non-replaceable items, the electric pump, a filter and a pressure regulator. I initially replaced just the pump, but the filter was blocked so that did not work. I hacked up the plastic housing so that I could use a car in-line filter with the car fuel pump. This worked - sort of - the bike runs and I rode it (which is great as I bought the bike in pieces not really knowing the condition of the motor). The problem is as the bike gets hot it tends to stall and does not want to restart, which I am assuming is a function of not having a pressure regulator. I'm trying to figure out a way of adding a regulator but most systems bleed the excess gas back to the gas tank. I'm not about to drill a hole in the tank, maybe there is a way to add a regulator inside the tank, but it is already hard to get the pump, filter, and float assembly through the opening. Any ideas?

Cheap fuel pump search continues.....

I rigged up an in tank pressure regulator but the bike is running worse than without it. So on to plan B........
I have the '05 FZ6, which has the same fuel pump assembly as the 06, 07 and 08 - list price $616.34! I have bought a used '09 FZ6R pump assembly from eBay for $55. This looks similar in photos but has a different part number. A good sign is that the '05 pump and the '09 pump use the same O ring for the seal so the diameter must be the same. I'm currently waiting for the pump to arrive, hoping that they are interchangeable.

It's a design change of some sort, but that could just mean a new internal filter.
And since the o-ring and bracket are the same from the different years, it will most likely fit. Maybe they made a electronic difference and there is a new connector on it.

cheaper fuel pump

The pump from the '09 FZ6R arrived today. I fitted it in the bike and it runs great.:cheer:
So the fuel pump with the part number 20S-13907-00-00 with a list price of $374.83, which seem to be more available used on eBay, than the pump for the '05 - '08 FZ6 5VX-13907-02-00 which lists for $616.34, will fit and work.

I have the same question but with the FZ1/FZ8 fuel pump.
