anyone installed a aftermarket LOUD airhorn?

Did I not already suggest that you do a forum search for Stebel?:spank: If you do, and still have questions, just reply and we'll answer them. That location was originally suggested by Killernoodle over on the sportbikes.net forum. Stebel Nautilus compact horn - Sportbikes.net It particularly allows a very clean wiring solution making use of the wire clips feeding the sidestand switch.

edit: did more research. read the wBW review on the Stebel Nautilus compact and it says water can get in, making it useless. how's the water protection on this horn?

btw anyone thought of mounting two airhorns? one at the front and one under the rear sub frame? lol

Some folks have mounted the horn under their front fairing, but I've run that horn exposed to rain and road crap for several years without the loss of function that the web bike world noted in their review. I can only conclude that they got a bad sample. Regardless, they're relatively cheap and so much louder than any alternative, just replace it if it quits working. Mine hasn't quit.

A simple search using the keyword "STEBEL" resulted in 64 different threads relating to the horn. Hate to imagine what typing in the word "HORN" would have resulted.

I would say upgrading to a louder horn is one of the top five Mods that everyone has done. It's up there along with the Dual Headlight, aftermarket Exhaust and Frame Sliders.

I have my Stebel mounted in it's original stock horn location, using part of the exhisting wires.

Mine is too,I used an L bracket to mount it to the fairing screw.

I finished up on a completely hidden mount of Stebel Nautilus horn this weekend on my 2007 FZ6.

A few comments:

I seperated the air compressor from the horn. The horn works fine this way and is very loud.

I mounted the air compressor vetically using space inside the tool storage under the seat. I punched a hole through the base with a hole saw. It mounted up very clean to an existing hole in the seat support bracket.

The horn setion was mounted inside the fairing on the right side. I drilled a hole through the metal fairing bracket and the horn lip. The horn was bolted to the bracket. The horn section is pointing forward and down. It is completely hidden from above after I reinstalled the black plastic fairing cap.

I connected the two with fuel line hose.

The relay ended up under the seat in the rear right corner of this space secured with patch of double sided foam mounting tape.

I wired from the existing factory horn to the relay to activate the Stebel horn. Now both the factory horn and the Stebel sound off when the button is pushed.

I have attached images of the compressor and horn mounting. Let me know if you need more details on how this all came together.
