Admins,
Maybe its me and I'm being overly anal, but in the spirit of keeping this good family safe site, is is unreasonable to keep/move/and request that all street racing topics be moved to the Bar or somewhere that requires a log on to access?

I love this place and do not wish to advocate street racing to anyone just visiting. Let them make a choice after knowing who we are by being here as a member.

Thanks!

the bar is viewable to people who aren't signed in. i just opened another browser that i wasn't signed in through to check. i'm not sure there are any places on the forum like that.

Relax man. Lol

How does that have any impact on this being a "family safe" site?

And what does that even mean? Do people have their grandparents routinely browsing this forum?

Lone, I see the family resemblance with your Avitar and Granny :Flip: ;)

Couldn't agree more, this is already a very gentle forum.

What about all the other millions and millions of websites and the search engines out there should they all be censored as well? The internet is a very open, wild, fun (and potentially dangerous), creative and mostly wonderful place. If everyone would censor it so grandma or little Mary could get on unsupervised without a care in the world then it would be a very boring and sterile place. If you want something "family safe" then monitor your family members while they are on the net, teach them good values and allow them to understand what is right and wrong. Dont simply try to sterilize the world into something very bland, boring and uncreative.

Mate , honestly there are millions of other sites that actually condone street racing  so to think ours is goin to trigger a huge influx to the ilegal sport is a little silly.... It is where it is

Ya, you're right it changes nothing. Either delete the thread/user entirely or leave it a free for all to run its course. . .

My hopes were actually geared towards setting good examples and not advocating irresponsible behavior that gets someone a Darwins award.

 Yet many here post repeatedly about taking it to the track. So which is it?

Pretty sure that this thred was brought about after you read about my encounter with a ford gt, sorry it offends you so much. But let me start by saying in no way was i trying to promote street racing, i wouldnt even call that street racing more like too guys just playing around. Also you cant honestly tell me that you have never not once in you life broke the speed limit, my point breaking the law is breaking the law no matter how you look at it. People are going to make their own decisions on the road and if a post like mine influenced them then they probably arnt old enough or smart enough to be on the road in the first place. I dont want to keep beating a dead horse so ill stop here but will say.....lighten up this is a site about a semi sport bike what do you think %50 of the owners do to have fun with it?

Speed limits are ludicrously low in many situations.

People should have fun with their machines. Open that throttle up but don't be retarded.

Want to push balls to the wall and really push yourself? Then take it to the track.

What's confusing about that??

Darwin awards? Irresponsible behavior? Is anyone saying to do wheelies through school zones? And even if they were saying you should do that....would you? Seriously man. The world is a big place. You can't put foam padding on all of it. Sometimes you just have to man up and live your life in the big bad world.

Having fun on your machine in a controlled manner within your skill level on public roads in traffic - while not being an a55hat and being considerate of other drivers - does not put people in contention for Darwin awards. It just means they are living their lives in a bold manner.

Live your life in colour my man. It's more fulfilling.

There's VIP lounge :)
yeah, wasn't going to worry about mentioning that or the staff lounge. :BLAA:

not disagreeing but disagreeing. you're right, any speeding is speeding. but our justice system does seem to make a distinction.

  • go 1-5 mph over and there isn't a judge that will even entertain the charges. i have a family member in law enfourcement and he told me how fast someone has to be going for him to give them a ticket. anything less and judges get ticked at cops for clogging up the court with worthless tickets.
  • go 6-10 over and you could get pulled but depending on the area and the mood of the cops you might be free to go.
  • go 11-19 over and you're getting a ticket
  • go 20+ over and you're charged with wreckless driving. go fast enough and your liscence could be taken on the spot.

so although it's all speeding, our legal system and cops view it differently. so it's no wonder your average citizen views it differently. going 3 mph over isn't dangerous at all. but going 50 mph over most likely is.

[edit] just read the thread you were talking about. according to the rules of the site it shouldn't be allowed.

Disallowed specific topics
We're all about freedom of speech, however there are some topics that don't belong here, such as:

Running from the cops.
Police bashing/slander.
Breaking the law.
No satanic threads/links etc.
Politics.
Any form or racism PERIOD.

i hate to say this, but enforcement of this rule seams to be who posts it and how much stink is raised over it. since no one is really raising a stink over your thread you'll probably be alright.

Your absolutely right that mainly comes down to the officers discretion on how far to take it but they could pull you over for going 56 in a 55 if they wanted thats more or less what i was getting at but as far as topics on breaking the law that really comes down to how one interprits it i guess. If it was going to be strictly black and white about it then probably about 1/3 of the topics on the forum would have to be taken down.

It's not about who posts it. It's about what is posted. According to the hard and fast letter of the rules ANY and ALL threads/posts that so much as reference canyon carving or spirited riding in any manner and to any extent.....should be deleted. Repeat offenders should be banned, then chemically castrated to ensure the safety of future generations from their foul genetics.

Anything short of that and we're back to having to accept the fact that we are adults. This forum has for the most part drawn together a group of reasonable and rational adults. We don't need to be baby-sat and for the most part moderate ourselves by knowing what is and isn't worth posting for whatever reason.

And IMO that "breaking the law" rule has always seemed to me to apply to things like threads entitled:

"This is how you steal credit card numbers"
"this is how you engage in human trafficking"
"this is how you defraud the government"

Etc etc

....and not "hey I rode my bike today and had some fun guys".

i disagree but i don't care to go into it or say anymore about it. i honestly don't care about speeding threads. but i do have memory of a member from columbia posting a video of them going above the speed limit and it was taken down or locked because it was breaking the law. it stood out to me so much because i thought it was pretty funny that everyone was having a fit without asking the OP what the speed limits/rules were in his country. having been to india and indonesia i know that not every country lives by the same rules. this is the last i have to say about it.

^I agree that also struck me as odd/funny for the same reasons. There's nothing wrong with speeding threads.

Maybe its just me but when i dont like something I generally avoid it. If something bothers me or upsets me I try not to do it. If I don't like the way something taste I don't eat it. If a article is about something that I don't like I don't read it. The store I buy my groceries at sells beer but it doesn't mean I have to buy it. The place I fill my bike up sell cigarettes but it doesn't mean I have to smoke. American idol is gonna be on for the rest of history but it doesn't mean I have to watch......

The way I see it, is you learn early in your riding career that there's times to get on it - and there's times you DON'T; and when you sign up for this forum - if you bring squid statements, you're going to get endless ridicule and flaming. Basically - everybody's got their squid moments, and part of learning how to ride is learning how to control your squid-like behavior. And hopefully the humiliation of being called out by reputable forum members and riders would help teach them.

That is enough for me right there.

... but i do have memory of a member from columbia posting a video of them going above the speed limit ...

come on guys, when are you going to learn? :spank::BLAA:

it is not columbia, columbia is one of the USA states ...

it is Colombia, the South American country :D

btw, I wasn't the one that posted such video jeje

back on topic, I agree with fellows lonesoldier and ChevyFazer, we are grown up individuals

Cheers

I see no problem. If a post/thread gets out of hand or breaks site rules, it will be deleted.

We may see lot of posts we disagree with. Idiot posters (sorry, but the odd posters is an idiot ;)). We usually flame them and get on with it.

:)

If the Admins decide to make that forum, you should call it the "tcmalker memorial street racing discussion and debate forum/section/thread"
