Add another spring wreck to the list

lock up rear brake, counter steer/drift out the rear end, and lay down.

And then slide directly into the object you were trying to avoid while scrubbing off very little speed?

The flying thing I get, but generally, if you've got time to do all that ^^^ then you've got time to scrub some serious speed with the front brakes and/or to swerve, no?

generally, yes. but keeping your head is prob. the hardest thing to do when all of this is coming at you. that is why you can never practice enough!

Maybe he was trying to do that one stunt in the movies, where the guy slides-out and goes under the car! And then they get up after and keep going!

I agree with you guys I didn't want to lay it down. I didn't think o crap car lay the bike down. No, my instincts took over. I hit the brakes found out I wasn't going to stop all ready locked up the rear (MSF teachs not to let go of the brake ones it is locked up) Went to swerve went to the ground. If I would have known she was going to stop where she did I could have swerved around her but I didn't know she was going to stop. So I did both bad decision If I would have let go of the brake I may be fine maybe not. Did me laying the bike down cause me to miss her I think it helped if she would have kept going and not stopped where she did I would have hit her on or off the bike and it would have hurt either, way a lot.

Thanks to everyone DefyInertia thanks for not addressing your question in a you are an idiot why would you ever do that.

If you want my opinion, I think you're a VERY LUCKY guy. Honestly, the damage dealt to your bike LOOKs very MINIMAL. Is your gas-tank even dented? As far as I can tell, $100 US dollars could fix your bike! Actually, I'd just LEAVE IT!! It looks cool! You claimed you RODE it after the crash? What are you? Some kind of TERMINATOR or something? Read the other crashes on this forum...those guys all have busted bones and DESTROYED fairings. How the hell did you escape all that?

I personally think you did SOMETHING right.

Glad to hear your fine, all things considering. Very happy to hear that those frame sliders WORKED. I happen to have the same one on my FZ6.

Glad you are OK and thanks for testing the sliders for me and thanks for posting so that we can all learn from your misfortune. I hope that your insurance company does the right thing. In the book "Proficient Motorcycling" the author teaches laying on the brake all the way to impact. Since you didn't know she was going to stop, an initial swerve could have ended badly. I'm not sure which one is worse, a lower speed frontal impact (followed by a flip and fall) or a higher speed fall and slide. It sounds like your bike faired better with the second option.

How did you contact them? I couldn't fine a link on there site for a phone number or email. I think my slider is ok I just need the end piece and the bolt.

Glad to hear that the Uncaged Sliders performed well, as I have them on my bike as well. However, from my personal experience, on a scale to 1-10, they get a 1 for customer service. I have emailed them several times, and have gotten no response. I need to get one of the plastic end pieces, as one of mine found it's way unscrewing off.
