I am kind of winding down form a long day working on it. So, here it goes.

R6 front end off with calipers, and controls, no top crown. eBay for $750 shipped.
Top crown off R6 with new ignition, fuel cap, and seatlock, new keys. $250
Rizoma conical risers. $119
Rizoma conical handle bars $107
AKRAPOVIC carbon front fender $299
Extra axle spacers off eBay for $30
FZ1 or aftermarket FZ1 Brake lines $80
Machining work $100

1. The steertube is completely different.
A. Have both of the steertubes pressed out.
B. Have your machine shop copy the diameters and threading of your
original steertube to the one off the R6. It will be a bit shorter, but it
works just fine.
C. Have machine shop press the steertube back into the R6 lower crown.
2. Grind away on frame all the old steer lock, and some of the front frame.
A. This will allow the ignition to clear the frame.
3. Grind off the steering stops off the R6 triple tree lower. They will
absolutely will not work.
A. There is a hole on one side of the lower crown that a bolt and nut can
be put in and the spacing is perfect. So you must copy this hole on the
the other side of the crown.
4. Use extra axle spacer and grind or Machine down to fit into space left
inside upper crown and steertube, since the diameter has been changed.
A. They are a perfect fit. Must be machined or ground down to .5cm.
B. Then your crown is ready for assembly.

I will post assembly later. and show pics of all the small mods.

Thanks.

It was a lot of additional purchases, quite a bit of work, but after riding it for 200 miles, it was soooooo worth it.

The large diameter tubes are so much more responsive. The ride is so very tunable that I really need to dig deeper to understand the micro adjustability and tuning of it. the steering is more stable and responsive, it just makes the other front end seem like a bicycle fork. It is difficult to describe, it just needs to be experienced. It must have shaved 5 or 10 pounds off the bike as well.

Braking is more responsive as well, it does not seem to dive as quickly, but hold up to intense braking without lock up.

Truly impressive.

Ohlins rear shock is next.

Hey Wolfman, Here is a breakdown of the costs involved. You do not have to get the carbon front fender, but I am sure you would.

R6 front end off with calipers, and controls, no top crown. eBay for $750 shipped.
Top crown off R6 with new ignition, fuel cap, and seatlock, new keys. $250
Rizoma conical risers. $119
Rizoma conical handle bars $107
AKRAPOVIC carbon front fender $299
Extra axle spacers off eBay for $30
FZ1 or aftermarket FZ1 Brake lines $80
Machining work $100

And I did order that carbon fiber tank cover form Australia, shipped Friday.

I really do think it looks the nuts

Only thing that would make me choke is the $1700 outlay

(then again I am a tight Bugger) :D

It may seem a bit nuts, but the alternative is a $3500 to $12000 Ohlins front end to get the same kind performance and adjustability that this fork accomplishes. Not quite the fork as a Ohlins, but very, very close.

Thanks for the compliments all.. I think it was worth the work and money.

Absolutely amazed at how good that looks!
I really am considering doing this to my 2008 FZ6.. Especially since it looks that good, even with the outlay.. My days..

Wish my KX250 was up and running, at least I'd still have a bike to get to and from work on..

I dont know if this thread or dead or not but how are they feeling now?

I was reading your thread, and I am about to take the leap of faith, I just have a quick few questions.
What did you mean by Controls that came with the forks?
Did you need the new ignition to complete the installation?
Were the conical risers for the fz6? What was the mm rise? or the part number?
The handle bars were they MA008, MA005, or MA010 height?
The axle spacer were for a 09?
and Why did you use the FZ1 Brake lines? the FZ6 Lines wont fit?

Thank you for you time.
