2009 FZ6 Oil filter

Hey I just purchased my brand new FZ6 and need to change the oil since im getting near 600 miles. What oil filter / synthetic oil do you guys recommend?
I went to wix's site and found the number and cross referenced it to a purolator ML16817, is this a good filter?

Forgive me if this doesn't apply to 2009 models but this is all that I really know. I think most people on here who use purolator use PL14612 or PL14610. They are both auto filters but will fit and are commonly used on bikes. I believe the 14612 is a little longer than the 14610 but I could have that backwards. Either way both should clear the shift rod. :welcome:

I just changed my 2009's oil for the 600 mile service and used the Purolator Pure One 14612 filter.

Fits good, ugly color, so far so good.

Well i went out and bought the FRAM filter for motorcycles. Any one have any issues with FRAM?

I put the oil filter list on my Blackberry so I have it with me when I go to the stores. I grab some when I can. This list fits the FZ6, FZ6R, FZ1, R6 and R1. The FZ6 will take even the long filters.

Oil? I buy the Rotella blue bottle at Walmart. Good synthetic at a cheap price.

I recently installed the WalMart SuperTech ST7317, Made by Champion. The best thing is the color....black!

Is the Rotella synthetic from WalMart suitable for motorcycles? I have read so much back and forth about this and ended up using Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40.

Yes and yes. Unless you have time to paint your filter get the Wally-World filter and oil, feel good about what you've done, and ride

Let me tell you that these supertech filters are ALWAYS sold out here in Walmart. So i took the bike on a nice long ride this past weekend to a bunch of walmarts and it paid off. the 3rd one i went to had 9! so what did i do? I proceeded to grab a cart, stuck my arm as far deep in the shelf as it could go...........and performed an avalance of ST7317 filters in my basket. Nuff said. At least ill be set for a while. No more putting the gold ugly bling pure one on the FZ anymore. Thats strictly for the vulcan since you cant see it under there. :Flash:

Yeah walmart here sells out of the st7317 filters quick so I buy atleast one everytime I go there.
