12,000 service

I hit 12k miles and made a appointment with the dealer for the 12k service. When i bought the bike i added the EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN (i think it was $800) which covered the scheduled service's like 600miles, 4k, 8k, 12k, 16k, 20k,
- change the oil and filter
- 4 spark spark plugs
- strip and adjust the chain and lube it
- check and adjust all cables
- adjust the clutch
- check all brakes and brake hose's
- check and fill tire's REMEMBER THIS ONE
- check fuel hoses
- check and adjust valve clearance
- check breather hose
- check and adjust engine idle
- check exhaust for leaks
- check the air cut-off valve
- check all bearings and replace
- check swing arm bearings
- check all steering bearings
- check all chassis fittings
- apply lithium-soap-grease in brake, clutch lever, shifter
- check center stand
- check front forks for leak's
- check shock absorber for leaks
- check cooling system
- adjust the throttle grip housing
- check all fusees
The bill was $485.00 and it didn't cost me a penny, "UNTIL AS I WAS RIDING HOME A NAIL WAS IN MY TIRE'.
Mind you, about 4-5 Weeks ago i bought METZLER'S M3 and the tire had 200 miles if that. So got the bike home and took off the rear tire and went back to the dealer and bought a new tire (metzler M3) for $169.00. This is the second time that after leaving the dealer i got a flat. So i figured that the service was $485 (free for me ) and subtract the tire $169.00, i saved $316.00. So i put the bike together and went for a ride. The bike was like new, soft and everything was smooth. I now know that whenever i go to the dealer to make sure there are no nails or screws in the tire.

When i told the dealer about the flat they tried to talk me into buying the tire insurance, don't remember what they were talking about, something to do with if i get a flat or something of that nature i would pay only half price for a new tire and it was a couple of hundred dollars, don't really remember.

Heh I wonder how many of those things they actually do. Some of it is silly honestly.. and alot of it should be done pretty much every ride.. or weekly minimum. Sucks about the nail.. sucks more that it was a new tire basically.

Just for future reference Avon tyres have a road hazard warranty in the 1st 32" of a inch tread wear.

This set is wearing very well, and not doing anything strange.
I dont know if I just got a bad batch orginally or not.

I do have to say they are crazy sticky in the dry, and the wet.

On another note mentioned in another thread of mine. I told them about the charging problem and they said that the battery and charging system are perfect. They told me "keep it on the battery tender because i have a bunch of thing like, speed-o-healer, PC111, dual headlight mod, Red LED bike kit. Could that be true, the only thing i don't use all the time is the LED kit.

thanks steve for that info. They had the METZ M3, AVON and SHINKO. How does the other 2 compare to the METZ.
