    Need brake help...

I've searched and read a bunch of threads... Can someone explain to me how to remove the brake pads from the front calipers?? I have an 06. I found a how-to thread with pics, but it was from an 07, with different calipers. My problem is that I can't seem to find any retaining clip of the...

suprised at how many people not wearing helmets

People don't like to judge, but some things are too simple. Not wearing a helmet is a stupid decision. Just look at the picture earlier in the thread. I have one in my garage (not my helmet though) that looks worse, from forehead to chin, right through the visor, grooves around 1/4 in in spots...

    Bent rim...

That's exactly what it looks like when you hit a pothole or a curb. I've seen it happen. Really sucks! Send the bill to your local government, sometimes that works here. They're responsible for potholes after all.

Has anyone tried lambskin on their bike seat?

Thanks for the input. I just ordered from Alaska Leather. 54.95 for the seat, 22.50 for shipping! Oh well, at least the Canadian dollar is well above the USD. I'll save a few cents that way... I'll let you know what I think once I can actually try it out.

Has anyone tried lambskin on their bike seat?

I'm doing a 1000 km trip in a few weeks and I'm looking for a easy way to make the board they call a a seat a bit more comfy... I've heard that draping some real lambskin over it makes a hell of a difference. I'm not buying a new seat, I'm not cutting it up to slip in memory foam, or...

Rear lock up during hard braking

My suggestion would be to lay off the rear brake! Most of your braking, especially in a straight line, should come from the front. Practice using only the front (in a safe environment), then when you're used to it, add in some light rear braking until you get the feel for the perfect mix of the...

    Center stand technique

Okay, so now everyone who dropped their bike trying the centerstand techniques described here (especially the one where you sit on the bike) have to admit to it so we can all laugh, I mean sympathize with you...

Scratched Arai Vector faceshield - need help

If you're going to buy a new one anyway, why not try the torch thing on the old one, once you have the new one? You're already replacing in so you have nothing to lose, and who knows, you may get lucky and save the old one! I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. You can buy a cheap propane torch at...

    What do you haul/carry?

Most of us carry people back there! And I don't know about you, but I don't even use the cargo net or straps of any kind for them... What's a case of beer or a bit of firewood?:) Seriously though, I've seen someone with a five or six foot step ladder, a small german sheppard, tools and other...

Pure one oil filter is bad?!?!

I've never used it and never will, and my logic is as follows. Over the life of your bike, you'll never come close to spending as much on oil filters as you did on that pretty exhaust system, those cool brake and clutch levers, that new seat, or whatever other expensive mods you have on. So...

    Strange battery problem. Any explanations?

It's not the wires that fried, it's the inline fuse, which is actually a 7.5 A. No reversed polarities here...

    Strange battery problem. Any explanations?

That's exactly what I thought, but the coincidence was just too much! And the fact that it wouldn't charge until I removed the bolt, so there had to have been something happening... There's something else I just remembered. I have the battery tender leads on the battery, and after the first...

    Strange battery problem. Any explanations?

I don't understand what happened here, hoping someone can explain it... Just before going for a ride, I noticed the left bolt on the front of the gas tank was missing. So I start her up, ride to the dealership to order a new one, then go for an hour ride, get home and park in my garage...

    Questions for fathers

I second this one. DON'T give up things you love because you have a kid. I have four at home, so I speak from experience. Make sure you have your priorities straight, and obviously the kids are your number one priority, no matter what. But sometimes, what's best for your kids is for daddy (or...

    Need some advise

My wife loves riding behind me on the FZ6, and it's all stock. She's rather ride with me that drive her own. The only complaint she has (and me too) is that the she tends to slide forward on the stock seat.

    Zipper Blues

I know this is a few days old, but in case this might help... Usually when the zipper opens on its own like that, there is nothing wrong with the zipper itself. It's the little thing that you pull (whatever it's called) that's not working properly and not "squishing" the two sides of the...

Do you ever give your left hand a break?

I often do it on longer rides, but it's not to rest my hand. It's the change in overall body position that I'm looking for ... I sit up in a more vertical position for a few minutes this way.
