The receivers for the support arms bolt onto the passenger foot peg mount, and the earlier generation doesn't have the same passenger foot peg setup.

Well, I didn't think this through. I got hold of the FZ6, then got scheduled for full knee replacement surgery. Moved the FZ6 on to a new home and got hold of something with more relaxed ergos. Hence... this luggage system I just bought here a few months ago is again up for grabs. $200 plus...
Not a dumb question at all. Givi photographs stuff in less than optimal ways. They're not very clear about it at all in their pics, and that's disappointing.
Nope, you don't need the side racks to use the top rack.

Not surprising as it's a high-beam projector and it's meant to wash the road differently than your normal low beam projector.
Also, be sure your bulb is properly seated.

If you use the kill switch regularly (I'm one who does), it's *likely* (but not guaranteed) not the issue. Unless water has gotten in there. Regular use of switch helps deter arcing, corrosion, etc. It's worth pulling apart to check for sure, and while you're in there give it a good cleaning...
