    Turning over but not starting

Thanks for the reminder and recommendation! When you say oiling the clutch cable, are you referring to the actual cable itself, or the pivot? In the manual there are instructions for lubing the pivot but not the cable itself. Googling it, I see there are some differing opinions on how/whether to...

    Turning over but not starting

Additional update: These bikes are amazing! So, after I got it started last time, I waited ANOTHER 3 weeks before attempting to take it out again. I thought for sure I might have similar trouble getting it going, so I took my tool kit (including my newly purchased bike jumper cables) out...

    Turning over but not starting

Okay, update time. Short version: Success! Thank you guys for the help and advice, wouldn't have known what to do without it. Longer version: I went through the process of getting to the battery and tried giving it a jump again, just in case, but again to no avail. Tried it with the throttle...

    Turning over but not starting

Thanks to you both for your advice! Much appreciated. Right now I'm in a situation where I only can play around with it on the weekends, I want to make sure I have enough time (well, maybe time and energy... :D ) to get stuff done without leaving it half taken apart in my garage. The plan is to...

    Turning over but not starting

No error codes (though I'll have to double check to make absolute sure), and I don't remember smelling any gas, though I do hear the pump whir for a few seconds when I turn the key.

    Turning over but not starting

Hey all, looking for some help trying to get my bike back up and running. 2008 FZ6, between the poor weather and business travel, I had let the bike sit too long and when I finally tried to take it for a weekend ride a few weeks ago, it would turn over but not run. I basically cranked it until...

Bruised bike and pride :( (Bike tipped while stopped)

Thanks for the support. And yes, I actually took the Basic Rider Course before I got my first bike in 2008 or so. Miraculously, I don't think anyone in our class actually dropped one the entire time, so I think my only input is what I've seen online. A couple years ago I thought about taking the...

Bruised bike and pride :( (Bike tipped while stopped)

My friend, you rock! Thanks for the tips on what to look for, most of that stuff wasn't on my radar. The most noticeable scuffs are on what I found out is called the left "side cover," which if I remember correctly from poking around trying to do my own fender delete, should be a pretty easy pop...

Bruised bike and pride :( (Bike tipped while stopped)

Well, it finally happened after 5 years with this bike. I was about to turn left out of a parking lot when I saw a car coming, so I stopped somewhat abruptly with the bars turned pretty far to the left, throwing me off balance. I almost saved it, but alas, I tipped it over and my FZ6 hit the...

$40 - NEW never worn AGV Silverstone Gloves

Hey guys, I ordered new gloves online and cut the tags off before realizing they were too small in the palm. The gloves are brand new without tags, I've only ever put them on a couple times indoors for fit. I bought them for about $70 all in, and I was planning on trying to get some money back...

Ha! Amazing. Are these wild, or just free roaming ponies with owners somewhere?

Why no one will sell you the bike you want

I think the issue is less about what the market needs and more about what the market says about the bike culture in the US. The market has matched what people want, which is loud, fast toys, not daily commuters. Most people in the US don't view bikes as transportation. The original article does...

Why no one will sell you the bike you want

You're half right, he definitely thinks he's a prodigy that has figured out all the problems, but he fails to bring up any real solutions. Maybe he should get up and do something, but then he wouldn't have anything to complain about on the internet...

Why no one will sell you the bike you want

What do I think? I despise Wes Siler as both a person and an author. He makes a heck of a lot of unsubstantiated claims based on nothing at all or his personal opinion. He usually fails to effectively convey his message, either because he buries the lede (if he has one at all...) or because few...

Top 10 ways to get noticed on a motorcycle

Yikes. This article doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, and the advice ranges from good to terrible. Examples: "For example, moving towards the left portion of the left lane as you approach an intersection will tell others that you plan on turning left. You can probably guess what...

    Cruising RPMs

I usually go by feel. Whatever is the highest gear that doesn't feel like its bogging down the engine. Click down one to pass, click down two to really goose it. I think it ends up being around 4-6k most of the time, but of course its a different story on the highway.

I came across these videos and ... crazy driving

I agree on riding defensively, but I don't agree on the speed part. In many denser areas with lots of traffic there is no way to always be at the head of the pack. I've had this discussion on this board before, but I stand firm in my position that using speed is not always an advantage. Even...

Thinking of selling FZ6...what would you do?

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I think I'm going to see how this winter goes with the bike in storage. For those of you that mentioned it, I'm fully insured so theft isn't as big of a worry to me. Now I've just got to start shopping for covers and looking into what I need to do to put it...

Thinking of selling FZ6...what would you do?

Alright folks, so here's the deal... I've had my 2008 FZ6 since August 2012. It's only my 2nd bike ever (started on a beat-to-hell '95 Ninja 250) and since I've been lucky enough to have a garage where I've lived so far since I've owned it. This has been important because as a more casual...
