Can you ride with the BRIGHTS on?

What do your RPM's look like, if you can characterize them for me? Also, do you let the engine fan run after you shut down the bike? I was doing that for a while too, which I've now stopped.

Can you ride with the BRIGHTS on?

I have ran a couple batteries dead in the last few months. As of this last incident, I did it with a perfectly healthy battery and a perfectly healthy charging system (both have been checked twice now). Apparently, my riding (or should I say, sitting in traffic :Flip:) habits are to blame. So...

FZ6 your first bike? 1 helpfull tip

Speaking for myself here, this is my first time using a clutch for anything so I have also spent some time exploring the boundaries of the clutch to get the feel for what will cause it to stall.

FZ6 your first bike? 1 helpfull tip

That is good advice. I learned the same lesson the hard way a few months ago when I bought mine as my first bike.

    Battery Keeps Dying

I must have jinxed myself. My battery died last night. No idea what is going on... The charging system was verified and a new battery was put in a couple months ago. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I ride with my brights on, I "cruise" below 4k RPM's a lot, and when I'm done...

My battery died tonight, and considering I had a new battery put in a couple months ago I'm suspicious that there might be something wrong w/ the charging system. Sorry fellas but I have to back out. Really sucks b/c I was looking forward to this all week! Have fun! Hope we do another...

    Battery Keeps Dying

Yes. A new battery fixed my problem. Your bike is under warranty so fortunately you won't have to pay for the fix. Possibly you can be compensated for your inconvenience.

I'm considering this, but need an honest opinion.... I'm still a noob. This is my first bike and I have about 750 miles under my belt. I even stalled today taking off from a stop light. :( The longest ride I've gone on so far is about 40-50 miles. :surrender: So level with me here. Am...

    Battery Keeps Dying

Thanks for the link. I'm going to follow that route. In fact, I want some kind of compensation for all the headaches on top of it. Yamaha went out of their way to ensure they did not have an unhappy customer (their customer service dragged their feet for a couple weeks anyway), so they paid...

    Battery Keeps Dying

Mine turned out to be a bad battery. Yamaha paid for another dealer to come pick up my bike, do a full charging test on it, determine the battery was bad, and replaced it with a new one.

    Battery Keeps Dying

They are all supposed to (and yours probably does). Exceptions are when bikes are sold as "auctioned units" because they had cosmetic damage that was fixed, a bike was set aside for a corporate employee and never used, and a few other rare cases. (So I've learned.)

To leave the radiator guards on or not. pic

That looks really sharp! Any special kind of paint required? I don't know to what extreme, but I would have guessed that the exhaust covers get pretty warm.

    Help me choose a house

Well, I will be one of the few to place my vote for #1. 50% of your income to a mortgage will be uncomfortable to sustain. If you think there's a VERY good chance of bringing in a girlfriend/wife to help (or rent out a room to a friend for that matter), or a significant raise in the summer...

    Help me choose a house

It's between #1 and #3. The price of #2 is close enough to #3 and #3 has all the bells and whistles. What I would like to know before voting (and I have no idea how anyone can vote in good conscience without knowing this) is what the debt-to-income ratio will be? In other words, how much...
