    "The Mindset"

Excellent advice. I know I've been guilty of a bit of squiddy-ness from time to time. Thank God I've never had any disasters because of it, but I have had a few close calls that put me in my place. I tell you what, watching You Tube bike videos has been a great teacher. Seeing what kind of...

    Break-In Question

Apparently this is a very controversial subject indeed. I just looked over about a million articles on it and everyone has a different take. I guess I'll just do what a dealer and my mechanic said - ride it like you think you will when it's broken in. Just don't stay at any constant rev for too...

    Break-In Question

Ok Motogiro, So wading though your over my head response, are you are basically suggesting I should stick with the recommendation of the manual :D ?

    Your Rider Resume

There is a lot of mis-info on any website. Just because I claim to have this resume: 1969 Kawasaki 120 1976 Kawasaki KZ650 1986? Honda V45 Sabre 2002 Honda VFR800 2009 Yamaha FZ6 doesn't make me credible. Don't take my word. Do your research.

Has your bike ever hit the ground?

Yes, I rounded a left hander too fast on my VFR800 and slid into a soybean field. Mucho embarrassing when a truck behind me stopped to help. Severely dinged up my plastic and cost me many diniros to replace it :shakehead:

    Break-In Question

So I recently aquired a new 2009 FZ6. The owner's manual tells me to avoid prolonged operation past 7k RPM for the first 600 miles. Then it says to change the oil and avoid prolonged operation past 8.4k RPM until 1000 miles. My shop tech after going over the outgoing checklist told me to...

    Bought a Raven FZ6 today

Hey typexhr, You posted me about your similar story (being from Lafayette too etc) but I guess I didn't pay enough attention, because I saw this and realized you also just got your new FZ. You told me but duh, it didn't register  So congrats, to both of us FZ newbies :) Between...

First Ride on My New 2009 FZ6

typehxr1, Wow small world huh? I moved away to North Alabama a good while back but came back home 2 years ago. I miss the roads up there. Real close to Tennessee and the foothills of the Appalachians. The riding was awesome. Thanks to all for the friendly welcome

First Ride on My New 2009 FZ6

Alright already! Photos will be posted this weekend :D. I haven't had time for pics, I'm too busy riding :Flash:! Took her out today after work. She's a real gem. I'm really impressed with how smooth the tranny shifts! It's like buttah :). Found a "truck route" in the country just outside of...

First Ride on My New 2009 FZ6

Picked it up from the dealer yesterday afternoon :D Deep blue, it's a gorgeous machine! I rode it for about 50 miles. The bike is pretty much everything I expected it to be. I love the great upright seating position, the great handing, and how light it feels. I was surprised though, with it's...

    Question

AdamDJ, I agree, basing any purchase on just a top speed comparison would be ridiculous. If you read my first post you'd see I'm not quite that shallow. I'm also interested in 1/4 mile times too :D !!

    Question

Bikebiz, I couldn't agree more with your comment about the masses not knowing what they really want. It does take years to figure it out :) RJ2112, I'm totally looking forward to the "peaky" - never had that in my VFR. Damn thing is so smooth, it makes me feel like I'm in a vacuum. Hell, give...

    Question

Thanks for all of the input you guys :) In regards to the original question and numbers I posted, I got the figures from a review on the 'Top Speed' website and a couple of others I forget. I didn't really trust the reports and it's why I asked about it in this forum. I've done more...

    Question

The FZ6 produces about 98 hp. The VFR800 does the same. The FZ6 weighs next to 460 lbs wet. The VFR comes in at around 530. The FZ6 tops out at 130 mph. The VFR makes just under 150. Reported 1/4 mile times favor the VFR by about a second or so. I don't get it. HP to weight ratio seems to be...
