Yes the 1.0kg Racetech Springs are high on my list of stuff to do, am also going to put Racetech gold valve emulators on as well, so the forks can be adjusted at will. Handy for someone who rides,both solo and two up.

Wish i had the 07, or 08 brakes, if i did i would not be going to this trouble!

Am hoping these gixxer calipers are going to be ok, will check out specs later today...much later, and check back on that. They only want $300 Au, which includes the master cylinder. That's cheap in Oz!

Perhaps there's someone in Oz that has an '07-'08 that is putting on the R6 forks? You can grab their front end and have the brakes, the black tubes, etc....

Lol! there are not very many FZ's in Australia, and even fewer that are seriously modded..only seen one that was truly trick here in South Australia.

To put R6 forks on in OZ costs a pretty packet...$2000 at least i would suppose. I got quoted $600 for an 07 FZ OEM caliper yesterday.

You should check GSX R one with measurement. It is not ordinaly that they have 83mm. Usually they use 89mm Nisshin.

I think brembo has 40 or 65mm gap on 4pod casting caliper.

Another choice?? How about Belringer?

For the people who has later FZ6 and want to use brembo caliper, there are YAMAHA OEM brembo(licenced production; we call Yamambo). It is XJR400R XJR1200, early XJR1300 one have 100mm gap. Some people say better than FZ6 OEM Sumitomo.

DSXR Caliper all good for egerything, except they are physically too big! Wont fir between wheel and disc....incidentally they were of a 91 GSXR. Things are looking glum re an available 4 pot replacement caliper that is compatitable.

I could recommend you to use TZ250(racing bike) caliper (made by Nisshin). Probably, it will has too strong stopping power but, we Japanese geeks prefer to use Nisshin than Sumitomo because Sumitomo's one has sometime having problem on torelance or accuracy in long term use. Incidentally, TZ250 one has larger piston than Sumitomo. You might need to choose the pad providing easier control than stopping power.

To prevent your misunderstanding, TZ250 has 83mm mount and, made by Nisshin, FZ6 later model has 100mm mount and, made by Sumitomo.

Great Info! Where did you learn this? Do you race and learn this tech stuff that way or is there a way you research this? If it is not a trade secret and you won't have to shoot me if you tell me, would you enlighten us on researching such technical information?

Thank you for your concern.
There are many Japanese riders that they keep the condition of old bikes. For exhample, FZ750 and XJ900 XS650 FZR1000 non-exup, FZR1000 etc. Especially, FZ750 has very poor caliper and damn ventilated rotor.... Many people swap using FZR front end.

On this point YAMAHA doesn't change too much and somehow easy one to swap wheels or brakes. Most YAMAHA bikes have 83mm or 100mm(FZR750R OW01 has 90mm Nisshin). Of cource, newer developped parts have good spec and, quality but, 20 years ago, there was huge boom of racer replica bike. Still they have top class spec and quality.

Secret? No no .... We all geeks having huge JUNK box full of treasure. Once find part looks having possibility, bid at auction site like ebay, if it is cheap(around $10). Also aftermarket part maker provide some information. For exhample, Sunstar provide diameter of rotor or PCD. Ohlins sometime tell us collect length of fork spring for each bike. Now I know the YAMAHA Genuine parts destributor that he was R&D in YAMAHA. When I buy something, I can ask him details of spec. Also, I was in FZR owners club all Japan and, there was comunity to making huge database.
In the other hand, if you have friend in dealer you can check specs from service manual.

However, I don't have experience using Nisshin TZ250 caliper into FZ6. Need check more details (5mm or more thicker rotor acceptable or not etc.) I show just possibility(but possibility is very high). Actually, i reccomennded him to get junk caliper from auction site to check. Also you can use FZR400(3TJ) Caliper and FZR600 siries(need check). Additionally, I have outer tube of early FZ6 fork to install 83mm gap one when I have problem at FZ6 OEM caliper in long term use and OH front fork.

Ok aftger much searching this week, i have decided it is "too hard" to find calipers that fit for now....Will look at other options in the next few weeks.

But for now, i am just putting on my Goodridge Braided Lines (Clear sheaf, Stainless Connectors, end caps) this wednesdayand petal discs (Braking - on order, at least 2 weeks), and leaving the standard calipers on. Will also change pads as well.

As it is, the Petal Discs & Braided Lines (front & rear) are going to cost me over $1000...

But in the meantime, if anyone comes up with a readily available option, that's not too exotic that it's a major grind to find, please feel free to share your knowledge.

Ok NEWSFLASH...All is not lost! whilst searching again on the net tonight...i have found some calipers that will fit...and they are pretty sweet! Beringer Aerotec 6 pot Calipers, and oh my gosh are they expensive...but very tempting! Am going to do some research re price & availablity in Australia.

Will probably have to get the matching master cylinder/ lever as well, if i do go down this road, and if i do, by the time i have done the suspension mods as well...i wont be selling my bike for a very long time!
