    Factory tires and trackdays

I just did a track day 2 weeks ago with stock tires (6k miles). They were perfectly fine, just some wear and little rubber balls on the edges of he tread after a 20 minute session. I was hanging with CBR's and not slipping at all. My only limiting factor was the low position of the foot pegs...

GIVI V35 and V46 case install with all the trimmings using GIVI racks on Yamaha FZ6 (2008)

Ow that hurts. I really want the storage, but I just can't get over the fat a$$ look.

    Fz1 Bars (08 FZ6)

I did the FZ1 bar install too. It's a more natural hand position for larger riders. Just be sure you check the clearance between the controls and the tank before tightening everything up.

    the fz1 bar install

Two quick things: WD-40 can be used to get the grips off and on without destroying them. It dries sticky, so the grips are tight after re-installing them. Make sure you check the clearance of the bars after everything is installed. Mine have maybe 1/8" between the on/off switch and fuel tank.

what tank bag fits the fz6 well?

I have the Joe Rocket Manta XL. It has a cell phone pocket, integrated rain cover and shoulder strap. I have to go to construction sites sometimes and it carries a hard hat, goggles, and vest no problem. It also has a good shape for the FZ6 tank. I think I paid around $50.

Cheap Idea for Protecting Your Paint

There must have been some confusion about what I'm using... It's STATIC CLING window tint, not the real stuff. Anyway, I do like the idea of the tank slapper, but I didn't know about it and the package of static window tint was about $13 at Wal Mart. Once I park the bike for the winter maybe...

Cheap Idea for Protecting Your Paint

Ok, Ok, here's pics. You can see my impatient trim job, but from a few feet away you can't tell it's there.

    Yes!!!

Isn't the R6 like 2 grand more expensive...? $400 conversion sounds like a pretty good deal

Cheap Idea for Protecting Your Paint

Hey all, So I'm used to thinking "out of the box" and was trying to come up with an idea to protect the paint on my spanky new '08 without spending any money. A friend of mine mentioned a clear film that applied like window tint which got me thinking... So I went to the local auto parts...

Why am I not scared anymore?

OK, so I got a brand new '08 FZ6 about 2 months back after riding my '79 CB650 for 10 years. The first time I rode it home I finally got up the nerve to give it some throttle and it scared the **** outta me! I was thinking "so that's what all the fuss is about". Now here we are 2 months later...

    Don't have riding gear?

I didn't have gear until I got the new FZ6 and committed to riding more often to help pay for it (gas and insurance is cheaper). Now it's kinda like wearing a seatbelt in a car. If I don't have gear on it's actually uncomfortable to ride. I feel nervous and anxious.

    windshield dobble bubble or single

I also got the "racing" PUIG double bubble windscreen. The wind turbulence is sooo much less than with the stock screen at highway speeds.. IF you have clean air. If I'm cruising in the carpool lane down the 8-lane interstate, there's not much difference. Either get tossed like a rag-doll, or...

    High Performance FZ-R6 (not FZ6R)

I agree with some other folks on here. I don't really care much about seeing a stripped R6 for 2 grand more then the FZ6. I'd rather see the FZ6 in it's own separate market niche, but add adjustable suspension and ABS (to compete with the SV650 ABS).

    Insurance question

I use Geico because my car(s) are insured with them. The initial quote using the drop-down make/model/year format was something like $2000/yr. The trick is instead of picking the FZ6 out of the drop down menu, I chose "other sport touring bike". Then the quote came back at a much more reasonable...
