Everyone has mentioned that you should think about how your family will feel if you're killed or badly injured. The other thing to think about is how you would feel if you kill or badly injure someone else's dad, mom, or child. To have that on your conscience would also be a life changing event.
As a control engineer with some experience in gasoline blending control, I can tell you that to make E10, refineries blend a mix known as RBOB (regular base for oxygenate blending) or PBOB. RBOB and PBOB are blended in such a way that they will meet specifications for octane, vapor pressure, etc...
I was looking at these bikes for all the reasons you mentioned, but I heard concerns about engine problems. Do you think those concerns are over-blown?
If I were to replace my Saab, I'd be thinking of a Mazdaspeed 3 or a Hyundai Genesis coupe. I like the Turbo Sonatas quite a bit too, but they are bigger than what I'm used to.

This is my Saab, a 2000 Viggen. Thanks to some fairly serious mods, it puts about 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft on the wheels. It's actually pretty docile at moderate throttle openings, but it can also be pretty dramatic.
The other thing that can really improve your range is to fill the tank all the way. I fill mine on the centerstand, and top it off repeatedly until it's really and truly full. When I do this, can make 200 highway miles at a brisk pace.
My '06 FZ6 has the original battery. I've ridden it about 3000 miles in a bit less than a year. The previous (second) owner only rode it about 200 miles in two years. The battery went dead for me on a test ride, but I was able to bump start the bike.
