Well, that sucks. What bike was this on?
It sucks for you, and for my view on Delkevic in general. They always looked like a reasonably priced alternative to the more popular brands.
They've long been on my list of want-to-own bikes, but the weight keeps me from pulling the trigger. My least favorite bike to own was a TL1000R, solely because it was ~500lbs, which is still lighter than a VFR. I'm a pretty small guy, so I'm trying to avoid heavier bikes.
Just for fun...
Nothing special, just an old Ninja 250 racebike I got for dirt cheap. It's already set up, basically just needs the carbs cleaned and adjusted, and new tires put on.
True, I wanted it to work. I had to put a lot of time and money into my SV650 before I got it just how I wanted it. I thought it'd be similar on this bike, no big deal. But it felt like the starting point on where this bike is from the factory vs where I want it to be is too far to justify.
I...
Odd that I would only that this problem on this bike, after owning 8 others. I can see how the rider being the problem is the logical conclusion.
An FZ1 is still in the running for my second bike, but what I've been reading suggests the throttle lag is just as bad. A Street Triple is...
You should've put money down. The bike is going up for sale today.
The final straw was doing a trackday on it. Yes, it's not a "true" sportbike, and shouldn't be expected to haul-ass on a track. I didn't expect it to. But I at least expected it to be enjoyable.
Those throttle shortcoming...
Zombie thread resurrection: the problem for the OP was most likely altitude plus a low idle. He said he was in Colorado Springs, which is way up there.
I found this out last week when I did a tour through Northern California, mostly through mountain ranges. Standard altitude was 5000-8500 feet...
That tends to be dirt bike riders. A bunch of dirt guys I know have completely trashed their knees since they're extra shock absorbers over bumps. It doesn't apply as much on paved roads.
I only took one thing away from Twist of the Wrist that I didn't already know from motorcycle forums...
The TLR was actually pretty tame. V-twin engine means (more) linear power delivery, which I enjoy over the I-4's typical jump. That bike was just a pig; something like 500lbs for a sportbike. No thanks.
I've hunted down R1s and S1000RRs on the track with my SV650 and Ninja 500. I don't like bikes with stupid amounts of horsepower. The thing I like about slower bikes is that there's very little need to fear the throttle. You rip on it, it goes, and it doesn't throw you off.
I owned a TL1000R...
